Born in Columbus Georgia, Brady was raised by his grandmother in Orlando. He started his acting at the local community level and the SAK Comedy Club in Orlando. A few years later he would move to LA and land a part in the final season of the British version of Whose line is it Anyway? He sure made an impression, and soon after appeared regularly on the US version of the show (hosted by Drew Carey) once it got started. The show became the launching pad for Brady’s success as a first rate international star. His performances in the show won him a prime time Emmy, and earned him his own variety show and daytime talk show, both named The Wayne Brady Show. He again won multiple Emmys in the category of Outstanding Talk Show Host.
Wayne also had a successful stint on Broadway, featuring on the critically acclaimed show Chicago. Brady has since hosted a couple of notable shows. The first being a lyrical game show, Don’t Forget the Lyrics on Fox, and second Lets make a Deal, a more classic game show. Brady is also one of the top performers at the prestigious Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. He does a very popular show four nights a week filled with classic Brady comedy, music and showmanship.
This artist exploits as an actor, comedian and showman. If all these were not enough, he proved to be an accomplished R&B singer and musician. He somehow managed to sneak time out of his otherwise super buy schedule and release his debut album A Long Time Coming in 2008. It was well received by both the critics and created a brand new fan base for Brady. The studio effort was an attempt to bring the classical touch into contemporary rhythm and blues. It managed to get its tracks featured in the top Billboard 200. Later these songs shot up to 20 on the US R&B charts.
Wayne also wrote the theme song for the successful Disney animated series, The Weekender. This theme and line of work carried on for Brady’s next studio album. He released his first full length album consisting of songs for children in 2011. The album was titled Radio Wayne was again very well received and showed the versatility and range of the artist. Brady was the recipient of a Grammy nomination in the Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance category for his retake on the iconic song from the 60s, song "A Change is Gonna Come".
Brady is also an accomplished screen writer who has many episodes of The Wayne Brady Show to his credit. He was also involved with the writing team on Crispus Attacks: Today was a good day (an independent video) as well as the movie The Brandon T. Jackson Show. Over time Brady was deeply involved as a producer on The Wayne Brady Show and The Brandon T. Jackson Show. He also had a profound impact on the American pop culture via the soundtracks of these very popular TV shows. In line with his recent songwriting work with the Disney and his release of a children’s album, Brady became associated with the Ronald McDonald House Charities. It is a group that works directly for the improvement of the livelihood of children in less fortunate circumstances. Wayne has done awesome work for the charity as part of the celebrity board.
