Vince Neil Wharton was born on February 8th, 1961 in Hollywood, California. He is the lead singer of the heavy metal and glam metal group, Motley Crue. In the year 1981, Motley Crue released their first album without the help of any label and quickly sold over 20,000 copies. In the year 1983, they issued Shout at the Devil, which became a commercial success and turned the group into a significant glam metal bands of the 80s.
The band recorded Girls, Girls, Girls as well as Theatre of Pain in the year 1987. In april of the year 1988, he tied the knot with Sharise Ruddell. The group released their highest-selling record in the year 1989 under the title of Dr. Feelgood. In 1991, they released their compilation album Decade of Decadence 1981 to 1991 in which they review their entire career till that point.
In February of the year 1992, Neil left Mötley Crüe to pursue his solo career. In the band's autobiography, The Dirt, it says that he was kicked out of the group for having more interest in car racing. Some of the musicians Neil recruited after his dismissal were Vik Foxx, Robbie Crane, Dave Marshall and Steve Stevens. In mid-1993, his solo debut, Exposed was released. It went on to sell approximately 300,000 records in the US. The earlier records of Motley Crue had managed to sell one million records at least.
In the year 1993, Vince Neil divorced Sharise Ruddell. Neil issued an album called Carved In Stone on the 15th of August, 1995. The Dust Brothers were its producers. The album sold fewer than a hundred thousand albums in the U.S. and Neil's Warner Brothers contract ended. The song “Skylar’s Song”, written by Neil only is also featured in a few versions of the record.
By 1997, the success of Neil's career as a soloist and his former band Mötley Crüe was in decline, so Neil accepted his invitation to return to the group. Generation Swine was the album which came out next. After that a tension between band members made Tommy Lee to leave the group. Randy Castillo replaced him, but he died due to cancer a few years later. His third and latest solo album to date was titled One Night Only. It was a live album and was released in 2003.
Neil also appeared on The Surreal Life in the year 2002. The following year, Vince Neil appeared as soloist in the "Rock Never Stops Tour" alongside several more hard rock groups of the 1980s. Neil made an appearance on television again in the year 2004 in Remaking Vince Neil, a show that portrayed him recharging his solo career. However, it was Motley Crue who received the successful re-launch as Tommy Lee and Neil reconciled and the band went on tour to promote the record Red, White and Crüe.
During one of his concerts in 2006, he fell off the stage due to poisoning. John Corabi then took the stage. On January 8, 2007 it was announced that Vince would make a little tour of Australia in late March and early April, performing in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. The tour was canceled on March 6, 2007.
