Tribute to Glenn Miller
An American Jazz musician and a Band leader Alton Glenn Miller was born on March 1st 1904 in the swing era. During the era of 1939 to 1942 he was considered one of the best recording musicians who led another one of the best Big Bands.

Some of the hits from his life time include tracks like Tuxedo Junction, Chattanooga Choo Choo,In the Mood, Little Brown Jug, Moonlight Serenade, and PEnnsylvania 6-5000. Miller seemingly died on 15 December 1944, as his plane went missing as he was going to put up a show to entertain the US troops during World War II in France. Since then, his body was never found nor was the plane found, there wasn't any official proof of his death.

Clarinda, Iowa was Miller's home town where he born on March 1, 1904, he completed his primary education from North Platte, Nebraska. Few years later in 1915, he and his family moved to a new destination city that was Grant City, Missouri. He resumed his education here in Grant City and he milked cows to earn money.

This is when he started playing in a local town orchestra as he was given is first Trombone. After spending 3 years in Missouri he and his family moved once again, and this time there destination was Fort Morgan, Colorado. Glenn graduated form high school in 1921 from here and during his time in high school he became pretty interested in dance band music. In fact, he was so impressed by it that he with his friends decided to form a band. After his graduation, Glenn made up his to become a professional musician.

For higher education Glenn took admission in University of Colorado, and became a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Since all of his interest was now diverted towards music, he didn't paid much of his attention on his studies and spent most of his time performing on any gigs he could get, if not then looking for auditions. Due to his negligence towards studies he dropped out of the University as he fail five classes in one semester. Later on he became a pupil of Joseph Schillinger, under whose supervision and guidance Glenn produced a signature hit titled Moonlight Serenade.

A Tribute orchestra, comprised of 17 members is known to produce the exact same sound as Glenn's Orchestra did. Under the supervision of Tom Daugherty, the band features Bob Kohn, Dale Hawley as vocalists, along with another vocal group called The Moonlight singers. They recreated the originals like The Swingin' Sweethearts, and Modernaires.

Glenn is famous for being the leader of renowned big band during the era of big bands; he is an iconic figure in the genre for generations. Amongst a lot of other big band leaders and musician his memory stands out as the most powerful and ever-lasting.

During 1930's and early 1940's he was consider a pop icon and pop superstar with quite a number of hits including I've Got A Gal In Kalamazoo, Tuxedo Junction, In The Mood, Moonlight Serenade, and last but not the least Chattanooga Choo Choo that in the music industry, was declared to be the first ever Gold Record.
