Frazier Othel Thompson, famously known as Trae Tha Truth, is a Houston based rapper who is also one of the founding members of the group, Guerilla Maab. The other members of the Guerilla Maab group include Z-Ro and Dougie D. The American rapper, singer and producer, Z-Ro discovered his talent of freestyle rapping when he went to a few local studios to create demos. The CEO of one of the local recording studios unleashed his talent and signed a deal with him. This is how the journey of his career began. In 1998, Z-Ro released his debut album, Look What You Did to Me in which Trae had made a guest appearance. In fact, Trae Tha Truth first appeared on the local rap scene in 1998 when Z-Ro released his album, Look What You Did to Me.
In 2003, however, the brilliant rapper started his solo career with the release of his debut album, Losing Composure. Some of the famous singles of the album include Life on da Edge, Days of My Life, Doing My Thing, Still on da Southside, Tell You a Story and the list goes on. Trae has released many other albums since the beginning of his career including Same Thing Different Day, Restless, Life Goes On, The Beginning, Street King and Banned. The album, Same Thing Different Day was released on four discs including one regular disc, second containing the first half of the songs chopped, third containing the second half of the singles screwed and the forth containing a DVD recording. The famous singles of the album include Screwed up Click, Don't Fake, Stay out My Way and Till the Day I Drop among many others. The chopped and screwed technique has skipped and removed certain beats from these singles in turn producing the ground breaking remix version of the hip hop songs.
The album, Restless is Trae’s first album that has been released on the Rap-A-Lot Records. About.com has ranked this album among the Top 100 Rap Albums of the 2000s. Some of the fan-favorite singles of the album include Real Talk, Screw Done Already Warned Me, The Rain, The Truth and many more. The album, Life Goes On has been received quite enthusiastically by the fans and critics and has sold nearly twelve thousand and five hundred copies in the first week alone. The album also features several guest artists including Lil' Wayne, Jadakiss, Yung Joc, Jody Breeze, Styles P, Dallas and Slim Thug among others. Moreover, Trae has also worked with Z-Ro to release the albums, Assholes by Nature in 2003 and It Is What It Is in 2008.
The mayor of Houston, Bill White and Council Member, Peter Brown has awarded Trae Tha Truth with an honor of his own day entitled Trae Day which recognizes his excellent contributions to the community. He is also a member of the Screwed up Click which is an ensemble of rappers hailing from the south side of Houston. Founded by DJ Screw in 1990s, the group has gained popularity after appearing in several screw tapes. Since its inception, many members have passed away and new underground rappers have replaced others but the group continues to produce music and has released several mix tapes including its well-known Blockbleeders compilation.
