Tonight Alive is a globally renowned five-member, pop punk band from Australia. Their first full-length album "What Are You So Scared Of?" achieved international acclaim and some listeners even called it a 'live-saving record'. Recognized for its catchy and hopeful lyrics and funky sound with a powerful female voice at the lead, Tonight Alive created huge sound waves in the pop punk music scene. It earned a global reputation and in less than six years after its inception, began to be recognized among the leading pop punk bands of our times.
Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Tonight Alive is a pop punk, alternative rock band comprising of five members. Jenna McDougall is their vocalist, Cam Adler plays bass, Matty Best is on drums, while Whakaio Taahi is the lead guitarist and Jake Hardy the rhythm guitarist.
Once these five members played together, things immediately clicked. Conceived in 2008, the band became mainstays in the Sydney underground scene for some years before they were noticed by major record labels and asked to perform at tours and showcases. The band's first show was at Hypefest in Sydney. Still in their teenage years, the band practiced together relentlessly despite their school and work commitments. Through their catchy songs, they captured the hearts of the Sydney youth, developing a rabid fan base. They continued to jam at the local music scene playing songs that would later be a part of their first EP, "All Shapes and Disguises."
Once they had found their sound, the band stepped up. They soon got together with producer Dave Petrovic to produce their second EP, "Consider This." In 2010, the band achieved a major breakthrough when renowned music producer Mark Trombino contacted the band, proposing to produce their debut full-length album. Their two-month efforts at NRG Studios in Los Angeles culminated in "What Are You So Scared of?" which was released in late 2011 and was much appreciated by fans and music critics. A re-issue of the album was released in the United States in 2012 by Fearless Records and landed at number seven on the "Heatseekers Album" chart.
