Three Days Grace is a Canadian alternative metal / post-grunge band. The band is formed in 1997 and is also known as 3DG or TDG. It consists of members Adam Gontier, Neil Sanderson, Brad Walst and Barry Stock. The band used to be named "Groundswell".

History
Under the name "Groundswell", the band was originally formed as a quintet in 1992. After becoming a trio in 1997, they changed their name to Three Days Grace. The group moved from Norwood to Toronto and were able to meet producer Gavin Brown, formerly of the band Big Sugar.

Their self-titled debut album, Three Days Grace, was released in 2003. Brown helped the band in the production of this album. It proved to be a huge successs. It reached the top ten of the American albums chart, the top 100 of the Canadian Billboard 200 albums chart, and number-one on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart. Upon completion of the album, Barry Stock was recruited by the band. He had to help on lead guitar to give Adam breathing room on stage and on tour.

The album's lead single, "I Hate (Everything About You)", was a super hit song. It reached number one on the US Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts and number two on the Canadian Rock charts. The second single, "Just Like You", also became very much popular. It gave the group a second number-one in America. It also hit number one on rock charts in Canada. Their third single, "Home", was also a hit. It charted at #2 on the US Modern Rock chart. This hit single was the second most played Active Rock song of 2005.

A fourth single, "Wake Up," also achieved success on the Canadian Rock chart. It was only released in Canada. Videos for the first three singles were widely played on MTV, MTV2, Muchmusic and Fuse and these videos also earned great popularity for the band.

Brown was greatly appreciated for producing a super hit album. A Juno Award was won by Brown in 2004 for his production on the album and his work on Try Honesty by the band Billy Talent. Three Days Grace was also nominated for best New Group Of The Year but lost to Billy Talent.

The band released their first single off of their album One-X entitled "Animal I Have Become," on March 31, 2006. The single was successful in reaching number one on both the US Modern Rock and US Mainstream Rock.

On June 13, 2006, One-X was released, and landed at #5 on the U.S. Billboard 200. There were record sales of over 78,000 copies in the record's first week. The album's second single, "Pain", was also a super hit. It topped the Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts in December of 2006 and the Modern Rock Tracks Chart in Feburary of 2007. The third single of One-X was "Never Too Late" which was released in April of 2007.

Currently, Three Days Grace is headlining a tour with the bands Saliva, Puddle of Mudd, and Buckcherry.
