He played drums on their hit song Songs For The Deaf, and also joined them in the first leg of the tour supporting that record. He also contributed in In Your Honor, a Foo Fighters' 2005 release and also conducted the orchestra for their Grammy performance in 2008. Perhaps his most memorable stint with Foo Fighters remained their two-night historic stand at London's Wembley Stadium.

When Dave Grohl first came up with the idea of a band consisting of him, Joshua and John; the two others gave him encouraging response. However, nothing was formalized then. None of them took it very seriously until they got together at Dave's 40th birthday party in January 2009. Sony Music released the album internationally while Interscope Records released it in North America. This 13 songs album delivered a real dose of hard rock madness and got thumps up from the critics as well as music lovers. Songs like No One Loves Me & Neither Do I, Mind Eraser No Chaser, New Fang, Elephants, Scumbag Blues, and Dead End Friends became instant hits.
