The Pretty Reckless is a four member American rock band from New York City. This band is known for their hard rock, alternative rock, post-grunge and alternative metal music. Originally named "The Reckless", the band consists of vocalist Taylor Momsen, lead guitarist Ben Phillips, bassist Mark Damon and drummer Jamie Perkins.
The Pretty Reckless was formed in 2009 and released their debut album, Light Me Up, in 2010. They followed that up with the EP “HIT Me Like A Man” in 2012. After two years on the road supporting Light Me Up, the band has risen through rock 'n' roll's ranks to become a polarizing presence. Their debut album and EP have sold over one million combined albums and digital singles.
The Pretty Reckless has released two studio albums, two extended plays, eight singles and ten music videos.Their debut single was "Make Me Wanna Die", which became a top twenty hit in the United Kingdom. The song was eventually featured on their debut album Light Me Up.
In 2013, The Pretty Reckless signed with the label Razor & Tie to release their second studio album, Going to Hell, on March 18th 2014. The album gave hit singles, “Heaven Knows” and “Messed up World” which made the band the second female-fronted group in radio history to have two number one hits in a row. The Pretty Reckless' first single, “Heaven Knows,” managed to stay at number one on the Mainstream Rock chart for eighteen weeks and was the top rock song of the year as well.
Going to Hell, the second studio album by the band debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 Album Chart. Rolling Stone raves, “this New York band's brash second album rages with the upbeat, beat-wise humor that hard rock has suppressed ever since grunge. 'Heaven Knows' and 'Why'd You Bring a Shotgun to the Party' are full-on glam stomps.”
The band embarked on a worldwide tour in 2010 in support of their debut album, the Light Me Up Tour, which concluded in March 2012. Four days after the end of their first tour, they embarked on their second tour, The Medicine Tour, where they appeared as a support act for Marilyn Manson and Evanescence. In July 2012, The Pretty Reckless arrived in Argentina for the first time and played in Buenos Aires.
In September 2012, The Pretty Reckless headlined the Bazooka Rocks Festival in Manila, Philippines. The band performed at several of the same venues they had visited the previous year, with fifty-two shows in North America, five shows in South America and two shows in Asia. On September 20, 2013 the band started their third tour Going to Hell Tour first leg in North America. The tour later hit Europe in 2014. The final leg will kick off in North America in 2015 as direct support for Nickelback for the first leg of Nickelback's No Fixed Address tour.
The band has been nominated for the category of The Best Group and The Best Newcomer at the Virgin Media Music Awards. The song “Kill Me” was nominated for the 2012 Song of the Year by Revolver Magazine. Taylor Momsen won the hottest female award at the Kerrang Awards in 2014.
