The country’s largest pop orchestra and New York City’s single symphonic orchestra, The New York Pops is all set to put together a mesmerizing music show at the city’s most prestigious music venue, the Carnegie Hall. Music classes are held to polish the creative potentials of the young generation. Apart from providing valuable knowledge and training, the symphonic orchestra even provides free concert and rehearsal passes to children so as to give them the opportunity to observe the amount of practice and hard work that goes into the process of music compositions.
The New York Pops’ annual birthday gala takes place at the Carnegie Hall. It grants children the privilege to watch the event from the famous balcony of the venue. A professional music artist from the orchestra is provided residential facility at a selected city school so that he is able to devote his full time and attention to the cause of grooming young music talents. He works in close interaction with the children teaching them about various music instruments, their purpose and the products their arrangements can produce. Towards the end of the program, the school children hold a music event where they play their own original compositions.
Every Saturday, the orchestra instructors conduct after-school classes for students who want to learn and take part in music related activities. These are called ‘Salute to Music’. At the end of the year, the cream of students is selected to play and share the stage with the expert musicians of The New York Pops on the occasion of its gala concert, at the Carnegie Hall.
Another prominent feature of the educational program is the ‘Rhythm, Rhyme and Rap’. It lays focus on boosting the creativity and confidence of the child. The children are encouraged to choose their instruments and compose their own rhythms. The program essentially brings out the hidden capabilities and aesthetics of the young minds by guiding them towards the direction of self-discovery.
