The Maine is a five member group from Tempe, Arizona. It was founded in 2007 by drummer Patrick Kirch and bass guitarist Garrett Nickelsen. Since debut these two have been the founding members whereas other members are pianist and singer John O’Callaghan, lead guitarist Jared Monaco and rhythm guitarist Kennedy Brock. The Maine primarily focuses on genres like pop rock, alternative rock and post grunge. The band over its career has been associated with a number of recording labels like Rude Records, Warner Bros and Fearless Records. Currently the group is signed with Action Theory Records. The Maine started off by releasing two EP albums. The first one was called Stay Up, Get Down. This EP was self-released by the band whereas in late 2007 it released another EP titled The Way We Talk. This EP was released by Fearless Records.
The Maine band’s first full length studio album went in music stores in 2008 and it was titled Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop. It contained twelve tracks including “Girls Do What They Want,” “This is the End,” “We All Roll Along,” “Time to Go” and “I Must Be Dreaming.” The album entered the US Independent Albums chart at #4 and at #40 on US Billboard 200. The second studio album by The Maine was Black & White. This album was released Warner Bros and Fearless Records in 2010. It contained ten nice rocking tracks such as “Fuel To The Fire,” “Listen To Your Heat,” “Give It To Me” and “Don’t Stop Now.” This album till date remains the highest charting album by the band as it managed to land at #4 on US Alternative Albums, #6 on US Rock Albums Charts and #16 US Billboard. Pioneer was the third album by The Maine that was released by Action Theory Records. This album again managed to enter the US Billboard charts at #90.
The Maine latest album till date is Forever Halloween that was released in June 2013. Till date the band has headlined four tours namely An Evening with The Maine, The Maine Presents: Pioneer, The Maine Presents: The Pioneer World Tour and The 8123 Tour. It has also performed as a co-headlining band on concerts like Mayday Parade, Never Shout Never and Augustana. The Maine’s album Black & White received three AP Magazine Readers Awards in category for Album of the Year, Best Song and Best Live Band. The Maine has performed live with other bands like Bad Rabbits, Taking Back Sunday, Augustana, Arkells and Lydia. The band went on a tour of Australia in 2011 and got the privilege of performing live at the Soundwave Festival. Some other bands that performed at this festival were All That Remains, Bullet for My Valentine, Iron Maiden, Queens of the Stone Age and 30 Seconds to Mars.
