Laurie Berkner is a musician who has earned his reputation as a children's musical artist. Berkner plays guitar and sings in the Laurie Berkner Band, along with pianist Susie Lampert and bassist Brian Mueller.
Laurie?s second release 1998's Buzz Buzz was the result of his growing popularity in the New York area.
Soon more local toy stores and children's specialty shops began selling her music. Also the distribution companies began purchasing quantities of her recordings.
Sarah Milstein moved on, and shortly after the 1999 release of Victor Vito, Laurie took the bold step of hiring a publicist - also named Sarah.
As national media coverage helping spread the word, things began to move more quickly thereafter.Laurie hired Danny O' to help with computer graphics and Jonathan (a.k.a. Pants)as an assistant. Later on, Laurie made an appearance on the Today show and suddenly Two Tomatoes was swamped with orders. She had to hire some musician friends. Andrew the webmaster, was one of them.
Based on her song Victor Vito, Berkner has written a children's book, Victor Vito and Freddie Vasco. She has also put out a video and a DVD; We Are...The Lauried Berkner Band, the DVD, has sold more than 400,000 copies since its 2006 release.
She enjoys appearing regularly on Noggin. It is a television network aimed at children, in music videos played between programs and on the program Jack's Big Music Show.
Berkner has also the honor of appearing in Jamarama Live!. It is a touring music festival for children sponsored by Noggin, and in the 2006 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
