Details of The Airborne Toxic Event and the Ticket Luck value
Originated back in 80s, Indie Rock music is one of the many popular music genres in UK and US. Over the years, music industry has seen several indie rock bands emerging on the indie rock music scene. Among these is also an American Based indie rock band, The Airborne Toxic Event. Entering the music scene in recent past, the band originated from Los Angeles, California. The lineup of the band consists of Mikel Jollet, Daren Taylor, Steven Chen, Anna Bulbrook, and Noah Harmon. The band is known to fuse the regular rock band instruments that are drums, guitar and bass guitar, with several stringed instruments along with a keyboard.
The band was formed by the lead vocalist of the band, Mikel Jollet back in 2006. The band resulted as Mikel Jollet found himself writing lyrics and composing a music album instead of writing a novel, on which he started working in the March 2006. Also during that time, he and his mother were diagnosed with rather serious diseases. With his mother suffering from cancer, and Jollet suffering from autoimmune disease and also from a recent break up, Jollet was compelled to pour his feelings out by means of the lyrics that he wrote. Later that year, Jollet met Drummer Daren Taylor, and asked him to join the band, which he did immediately. Soon after the duo was compiled, they started working on their original material for the next four months, after which they asked Bulbrook and Harmon to join the band. Both of them became the band members ever since, although Harmon initially refused the offer. The last available slot for the lead guitarist of the band was filled in by Jollet's old friend, Steven Chen, who was initially offered to be the keyboard player for the band; however later, upon discovering Chen's talented guitar playing skills, he was offered the spot of lead guitarist of the band.
The name of the band was taken from the National Book Award winning Novel by Don DeLillo named White Noise, in which he cited a poisonous cloud formed by a railcar as 'Airborne Toxic Event'.
Prior to forming a band, Jollet worked as a freelance writer for Los Angeles Times, Men's Health, NPR, and Filter Magazine. He mainly wrote fictional short stories, among which was his short story, titled The Crack, which was published on Sandwiched between Short stories on an issue of McSweeney's.
After being a full fledged band, the Airborne Toxic Event performed their first live show by the end of 2006 in Echo Park. After their first performance, the band performed extensively in Los Angeles, and rose to fame through the Los Angeles area. Apart from being named the Top 25 Bands on MySpace, the band was also on the list of top 3 L.A Bands to watch in 2008 by Los Angeles Times. Still unsigned at that moment, the band resided at the Spaceland Nightclub in Silver Lake during January of 2008, while their song 'Sometime Around Midnight' received extensive airplay on various radio stations. Later that year in April, the band made their first ever appearance on Television in a talk show, Last Call with Carson Daly, on NBC. In the same month, Airborne Toxic Event signed its first record deal with Majordomo Records.
The band finally released its self titled debut album on August 5, 2008 in United States. The album was released again in UK on February 9, 2009 after they signed a record deal with the Island Records. The first single of the album was Gasoline that came out on November 17, 2008, while the single that followed was Sometime around Midnight, which was written by Jollet in isolation regarding his former girl friend. The later single was also the Starbucks Pick of the Week and peaked at #4 spot on the Billboard hot Alternative Songs chart. Most recently the band released an EP titled Happiness is Overrated in UK and Europe only, later on a video for the title track was also released on June 12, 2009.
Presently the band is on its world tour that kicked off on October 21, 2009 in Columbus, Ohio. The tour is scheduled to end on January 30, 2010 in Louisville, Kentucky.
