The basis of The AHN Trio was laid when Maria, Lucia and Angella started playing the piano at a very young age however Lucia stayed on the instrument, Angella started playing the violin and Maria stated playing the cello. Their career began when the trio started displaying their outstanding musical talent in the public in 1979. Later, the trio moved to America and in 1981, they got themselves enrolled in the prestigious Julliard in New York to further polish their skills. The amalgamation of superior talent and an extraordinary style brought The AHN Trio in the limelight at very early stage in their career. Featuring in 1987's Time Magazine's cover story of 'Asian American Whiz kids'; the Ahn sisters suddenly became the centre of attention in the music industry. Since then, The Ahn Trio has graced the covers of renowned magazines like Vogue and GQ, been photographed by the biggest names in the world of photography and featured in ad campaigns for some of the top brands like GAP, body shop and Anne Klein, among others. In 2003, the Ahn sisters made it to the people magazine's 50 most beautiful people list.
Releasing 6 albums to date, the trio has been gathering appraises and awards since their first album. In addition to producing their own tunes and fusions, the three-piece has also managed to pay tributes to legendary composers such as Michael Nyman, Nikolai Kapustin, Pat Metheny, Paul Schoenfield, Mark O' Connor, Kenji Bunch, Maurice Jarre and Paul Chihara. The Ahn Trio latest album "Lullaby for my Favorite Insomniac" is a true of example of the kind of revolution they are bringing to classical music.
