Details of Stryper and the Ticket Luck value
Stryper is a Christian metal band from Orange County, California that has been active on American soil since 1983, and has performed all over the world where many have flocked to watch it live with Stryper tickets in hand. Its music, often referred to a blend of glam metal and heavy metal, has been released through a number of record labels including Enigma Records, Big 3 Records and Hollywood Records. It has also performed and worked with a number of other famous artists and bands including SinDizzy, Blissed, King James and Boston. It is composed of lead vocalist and guitarist Michael Sweet, bassist and guitarist Tracy Ferrie, guitarist Oz Fox and drummer Robert Sweet.
Stryper was founded by the Sweet brothers, Michael and Robert, in 1975 who first peformed in the local Californian band, Parliement and Kirkadelic. They were inspired by the great rock bands including Van Halen but felt that they were delivering a depressing message. Thus, to spread their beliefs and worldview, and to create unique music, they formed Stryper, a band that started out as Roxx Regime. Bassist Eric Johnson and guitarist Doug Aldrich joined the two brothers and in 1984, they released the EP The Yellow and Black Attack. By this time, they were opening acts for the likes of the legendary Bon Joive and Ratt. In 1985, they released their first album titled as Soldiers Under Command which was soon certified gold through Enigma Records with their first EP re-released in 1986. in 1986, they released the album To Hell with the Devil which ranked high on the Billboard album charts for three whole months and sold over two million copies.
This album not only became Stryper’s first successful record but also the first ever Christian metal album to achieve this feat and the first in the entire contemporary Christian music genre as well. Songs such as Free, Honestly and Calling on You became staples on MTV in 1987 that two of the three songs, Honestly and Free, became Dial MTV’s most requested songs. With airplay on MTV, they became the second Christian band to achieve this feat after Degarmo & Key’s 666. To add to the many firsts and two million copies sold, To Hell with the Devil also received a Grammy Award nomination, a rarity for a Christian metal band.
Stryper followed up with a very successful world tour and in 1987, performed as headliners at the Dynamo Open Air Festival, held each year in the Netherlands. In 1988, the studio album In God We Trust was released which was soon certified gold by the RIAA and which spawned the hit single Always There for You. This song not only ranked high on the Billboard charts but also became a massively popular song on MTV, as with their previous hit singles. This album received the GMA Dove Award for Hard Music Album and the GMA Dove Award for Hard Music Song. In 1990, they released the album Against the Law which gained the band a lot of media attention, and was a move to a more classic heavy metal sound. In 1991, through Hollywood Records, they released the album Cant Stop the Rock including the hit single Believe and in 1992, they went on to a very successful European tour alongside bands such as Bride. The band then went on hiatus and returned in 1999 for a reunion performance at Puerto Rico’s summer rock festival.
In 2011, Stryper released its latest album, The Covering, through Sony Records which contained a number of cover songs of famous metal bands like Kansas, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin. With two GMA Dove Awards, a Grammy Award nomination and a two million copies selling album, this is a Christian metal band to be enjoyed live through cheap Stryper tickets.
