Bassist of the band is Alfredo Hernandez Mejia and Jose Antonio Torres is the Pianist. On percussion and drums you will see Jorge Ortiz Martinez and Sandro Celada Noble, Arturo Ortiz Arias along with Lawrence Hernandez Mejia.
 
The group as called Tropical Santanera back in 1955 but the name was changed to Sonora Santanera afterwards. The band initially started performing in around Colonia Valle Gomez in Mexico City. Later on, Mexican carpero and comedian Jesus Martinez "stick" invited then to play backing vocals to the numerous artists that perform at the theater. Jesus Martinez also changed the name of this band to The Sonora Santanera. The singers at that time were Juan Bustos, Terrones and Andres Silvestre Market later on Jose Bustos joined them.
 
Their single form 1960, become a hit; the song was titled as La Boa. The band got their destined success and since then they have not stopped at all. Their compositions have only got better and more popular among music lovers.
