Shinedown

Shine Down is a rock band from Florida playing since 2001. Eric Bass, Brent Smith, Zach Myers and Barry Kerc are the current members of the band. Shine Down has so far come up with three albums including Leave a Whisper, Us and Them and The Sound of Madness released by Atlantic records. The musical influences of the band include Pink Floyd, Stone Temple Pilots, Foo Fighters, Otis Redding and Iron Maiden.

Shine Down started off in the major city of Florida known as Jacksonville. Barry Kerch, Jasin Todd, Brad Stewart, and Brent Smith were the founding members of the band. Brent Smith the lead singer actually hunted down the rest of the members to form Shine Down in collaboration with Atlantic Records. Brad, the bass player, was the next one to get aboard followed by Jasin. Barry was though a hard catch they had to look around for six different drummers till they finally ended up with Barry. The name of the band is a combination of contrasting elements meaning sometimes one Shines like a star while at other times it drowns deep down. The contrasting name also carries an element of hope that with every downfall there is a hope to Shine.

In the 8 years of their career they have come up with three albums with several singles. Their Singles include "Sound of Madness" "Second Chance", "I Dare You", "Devour"," Fly from the Inside", "45" ,"Burning Bright" ,"Simple Man", "Save Me", "Heroes" and "If You Only Knew". The band has been a great success as all ten of their single hit the top 5 positions of Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks charts. Shine Down is the only band to ever make it. The albums of Shine Down have also been quite a success by making over a sale of six million copies.

Shine Down debuted in their music career with a hard rock album known as "Leave a Whisper". The Album attributed songs like "Fly from the Inside" , "All I Ever Wanted", "Left Out" , "Stranger Inside", "Crying Out""Lost in the Crowd" , "Lacerated" "No More Love","In Memory" ,"Better Version" ,"Burning Bright" , and "45". The album was re-released with additional songs like "Simple Man","Burning Bright" (Sanford Mix) and "45 (Acoustic)". The Simple man was originally a Lynyrd Skynyrd classic and Shine Down became a singing sensation with an acoustic cover version of it. The original album was released in June 2003 followed by a re-released version in 2004. Leave a Whisper was best-selling album by Shine Down and has been declared platinum album by the RIAA. The Album also bagged good professional reviews by music guides like Allmusic, Artist direct, Rocknworld, KNAC Pure Rock, Rock Bottom and sputnikmusic

The Album cover of their first album signified the symbolical essence of Shine Down name etymology. The Album cover featured a hurricane that has destroyed everything yet there stands a single green tree. The green tree is a sign of last hope in the utter destruction.

The Success of "Leave a Whisper" prompted for the second album in October 2005 named as "Us and Them". the Album incorporated track like "The Dream" ,"Heroes ,"I Dare You", "Yer Majesty" ,"Beyond the Sun" ,"Trade Yourself In", "Lady So Divine", "Shed Some Light", "Begin Again" ,"Atmosphere" ,"Fake" and "Some Day". The Recording Industry Association of America gave it Gold in November 2006. The band performed it songs in SnoCore Tour with Halestorm , Seether, and Flyleaf and later team up with Trapt on his Equinox tour. The Band went to their first international tour in June 2006 with Alter Bridge followed by Godsmack and Rob Zombie.

The Shine Down in 2008 came up with their final album called The Sound of Madness. The lead single of the album was "Devour" and was released on May 5, 2008 to gain amazing success. The Song also became the theme song Night of Champions 2008 WWE pay-per-view and Madden NFL 09. The Album featured thirteen tracks including "Devour" ,"Sound of Madness" ,"Second Chance" ,"Cry for Help" ,"The Crow & the Butterfly" ,"If You Only Knew" ,"Sin with a Grin" ,"What a Shame" ,"Cyanide Sweet Tooth Suicide" ,"Breaking Inside" and "Call Me". This Album is the bolder side of Shine Down with hard Rock Metallic Music and experimentation with topics like Politics and love.
