Shadows Fall is one of the famous heavy metal bands from America. It had been formed in the town of Springfield in the state of Massachusetts, in the year of 1995.
The band has had gone through a series of , but still the larger part of the recording career of the band is comprised of Brian Fair as vocalist, Jonathan Donais at guitar , Matt Bachand guitar, Paul Romanko as bassist, and Jason Bittner at drums.
Shadows Fall has released five studio albums, two compilation albums, and one DVD, right from the time of its formation.
The band's first album had featured Philip Labonte on vocals, which was soon replaced by Fair. David Germain had played drums for the first two studio albums, but in 2002 Bittner joined the band full time. Last year.
The band had been into the nomination for Grammy Award, in the category of Best Metal Performance for their song Redemption. It is reported that the band has been dropped by their international distributor Roadrunner Records in early October 2008.

The band had released its first EP titled To Ashes, where Dutkiewicz had been playing as a session drummer. Soon after the release of the demo, Dutkiewicz had left to form Killswitch Engage. Shadows Fall had a tour of the New England area, which was an opening for artists such as Fear Factory and Cannibal Corpse.
The band had recorded its first studio album Somber Eyes to the Sky, in the year of 1997 with Bachand's recording label, named Lifeless Records. The band's name had been originated from the title of a comic book, which was published in the early 1990s.
Labonte had left Shadows Fall in 1998, to form to form his own band. The band was in search for a replacement vocalist and found Brian Fair at an Overcast concert. The band had approached Fair, for joining the band. Fair had left the band Overcast and joined Shadows Fall as a full time vocalist.
The band had got a chance to be signed by Century Media Records, during their tours. The band had recorded its second studio album titled Of One Blood with Fair in the year of 2000; the release had an inclusion of their re-recorded songs from Somber Eyes to the Sky.
Shadows Fall had recorded its third studio album, which had a title The Art of Balance. It was released on September 17, 2002; the album had reached up to a position of 15 on the Billboard Top Independent albums chart.
Shadows Fall has also released three music videos to promote the album; Thoughts without Words, Destroyer of Senses, and The Idiot Box
