Sevendust is a famous American heavy metal band from Atlanta, Georgia that has been active in the metal music industry since 1994. Since its debut, it has been held as one of the most phenomenal metal bands in the US, often playing to shows sold out in terms of Sevendust tickets. This is a band that has also experimented with its music, often embracing styles from alternative metal, industrial metal, classical hard rock, nu metal and even post-grunge. Its music has been released via labels such as Roadrunner Records, TVT Records, Asylum Records and Winedark Records. It has also played in concert with a wide assortment of bands including Call me No One, Amen, Projected, Snot and Dark New Day.
Sevendust is a band that is home to some of the most talented musicians in metal, all of whom have been members of the band since its founding. Lajon Witherspoon is the band’s lead vocalist with Clint Lowery as the lead guitarist and backing vocalist. John Connolly is the rhythm guitarist with Vince Hornsby as the bassist and Morgan Rose as the drummer and percussionist. The founding members of the band were guitarist John Connolly, bassist Vince Hornsby and drummer Morgan Rose with the other two joining the group after its first demo.
Sevendust’s first studio album was released in 1997, and it soon gained traction, charting high on the Billboard charts and being certified gold, the beginning of what is today as eight album discography and many more gold certifications. All of this began with humble beginnings when drummer Morgan Rose and bassist Vince Hornsby were members of Snake Nation, with drummer John Connolly joining them as a guitarist. They were soon joined by Lajon Witherspoon as the guitarist and Clint Lowery, renaming themselves as Rumblefish.
From Rumblefish, the band changed names to Crawlspace with one of their songs being used on the soundtrack of Mortal Kombat. They then changed names to Sevendust, a name which has today become synonymous with quality, mesmerizing metal. Their first album also contained the track My Ruin which was on the Mortal Kombat soundtrack. It stayed on the Billboard 200 for a record sixteen weeks, going gold over a year later. In 1998, the band performed at such premier metal and rock festivals such as Ozzfest and Dynamo Open Air.
In 1999, Sevendust released their second album, labeled Home, which peaked at a record number nineteen on the Billboard 200 and starred Skunk Anansie’s Skin and Deftones’ Chino Moreno. They appeared on the Late Night with Conan O’Brien Show and played at Woodstock 1999. they would go on to play with bands such as Korn, Nonpoint, Reveille, Staind, Godsmack, Mushroomhead, Mudvayne,Powerman 5000, Kid Rock, Creed, Machine Head, Disturbed, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, Coal Chamber, and Metallica. Their 2001 album was certified gold with two chart topping singles. Their fourth album, labeled Seasons, sold a massive sixty eight thousand copies in its first week of release with its songs ranking in the top ten of the Mainstream Rock Chart. Their latest album is 2013’s Black Out the Sun, a much anticipated album whose music can be heard at any concert with Sevendust tickets.
