It was after the band changed their name in 2002 and released their debut album, “Disclaimer” that it began gaining mainstream success. After the release of their first album, Seether toured extensively to increase their popularity and boost the sales of their album. It was during this time that the band was chosen as a support act at the worldwide tour of Evanescence. During the tour, the band released another epic tune, Sold Me, which was soon after featured as the soundtrack of the movie, "Punisher". The band later released an alternative album of their debut release, which not only included several of the original tracks remixed or rerecorded, but also eight new numbers. Entitled "Disclaimer II", this album was very well-received by the audience.
Seether released their sophomore album, "Karma and Effect" in 2005. Debuting at number eigh on the "US Billboard 200", it was certified gold both in the US and Canada. Three singles from this album, The Gift, Truth and Remedy, scored number one spot on the "US Mainstream Rock Charts". These tracks were Seether's first number one hits. In 2006, the band released an acoustic CD titled, "One Cold Night" which was recorded in Philadelphia and achieved a lot of fame.
Seether's third album, "Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces" was released in 2007. Attaining the number nine spot on the "Billboard 200", the album sold over fifty thousand copies in the very first week of release. The first single from this album, Fake It peaked not only at top position on the "US Mainstream Rock Charts" but also on the "Modern Rock Charts". And that's not it; the band held the position for over eight weeks on both charts. Another single from the album, Rise Above This also bagged the number one spot on the "Modern Rock Tracks" charts.
The album won Seether their first South African Music Award for the "Best Rock: English" category and also their first MTV Africa Music Award for the "Best Alternative Artist" category. In 2008, the band kicked off a tour in support of this album. Lasting over a year, they hired artists like Troy McLawhorn, Evanescence and Sevendust as touring agents. Other bands with which Seether shared the stage include, 3 Doors Down, Papa Roach, Stand, Red and Finger Eleven.
Seether has now been in the news for the release of their newest album, "Isolate and Medicate". Released in July 2014, the first single from the album, Words as Weapons was released in May. The band performed this single in front of 1700 fans live at the Orbit Room. And till now, the album has been receiving rave reviews.
