Sandi Patty has been active since 1978 in the American music industry, particularly in the contemporary Christian music scene. Famous for her expressive flexibility and diverse vocal range, she can be seen live with Sandi Patty - Yuletide Joy tickets in hand.
Sandi Patty has been praised by many as The Voice. She was born into a family of musicians with her mother a church pianist and her father a minister of music. Patty began performing at the age of two, in church, when she sang "Jesus Loves Me" at the Phoenix First Church of God. She grew up in Phoenix then moved to San Diego where the whole Patty family performed as The Ron Patty Family, singing at many churches in the US during the holidays. After graduating from San Diego's Crawford High School, she followed her studies at San Diego State University and Anderson University. She also worked as a studio musician at a number of local studios while in university, as well as recorded commercial jingles such as the one for Juicy Fruit gum.
The star of the upcoming Sandi Patty - Yuletide Joy concert, Patty rose to fame as a studio singer and performer during the late seventies, during which she met Bill Gaither. Her first album, For My Friends, was an independent release, which led to her being signed onto Singspiration! She then released the album Sandi's Song, and in 1982, won her first two GMA Dove Awards. She also began working as a backup singer for the Bill Gaither Trio and Bill Gaither himself. Her first headlining national tour kicked off in 1984 to much acclaim. Patty's songs, such as "The Star-Spangled Banner", gained much fame and airplay. This particular tune was used in the historical ABC Statue of Liberty re-dedication broadcast in 86.
By then, Patty was performing many concerts, similar to the upcoming Sandi Patty - Yuletide Joy concert. She also saw appearances on The Tonight Show, followed by playing at the Fourth of July Extravaganza organized by Walt Disney. She also played at the 1998 Pepsi 400 and sang the national anthem at the Indianapolis 500 race five times during the late eighties and early nineties. Patty would sing the national anthem once again at the 2013 edition of the race. By nineties, her concerts were often sold out and so heavily attended that she was performing two hundred a year. In 1995, she was featured in America: A Call to Greatness, a docudrama by Warren Chaney and was ranked as the highest paid Christian music singer, averaging over a hundred thousand dollars per appearance.
Sandi Patty has continued touring, playing concerts and releasing massively popular Christian music albums. She has also performed a string of concerts with orchestras, including the New York Symphony Orchestra, Prague Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Pops, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Dallas Symphony. She has also headlined the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra's Yuletide Celebration six times and will do so once more.
On TV, Sandi Patty has appeared on 7th Heaven, on the Sandi Patty's Yuletide Special and played with the US Air Force Reserve Band and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. In 2004, she was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and received the highly coveted GMA Music and the Rockies Summit Award. 2008 marked the release of her thirtieth album, Songs for the Journey, featuring classic church hymns and compilation recordings. In 2009, she was the recipient of two GMA Dove Awards nominations, as well as released a first of its kind acoustic album. She continues churning out chart topping single after single, with twenty two GMA Dove Awards won so far.
