Details of Rusko and the Ticket Luck value
Christopher Mercer, better known by his stage name Rusko, is a DJ from Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. He is known best for promoting, playing and producing dubstep. His most popular single is “Cockney Thug.” He is currently on a US tour to promote his newest album, “O.M.G.” Rusko tickets for the various shows have been put up on his website.
Rusko was born on 26 January, 1985 to a musical family in Leeds. He comes from a diverse musical background with roots ranging from reggae to classical piano music. His family owned a number of musical instruments which included saxophones and banjos. It is also in his early years that he was exposed to dub sound systems which ultimately shaped his current music style. His rich background and knowledge of music is what enabled him to play an integral part in bringing mainstream attention to dubstep. Other than the knowledge he gained from his family, Rusko also went to Leeds College of Music where he studied Music Performance.
Rusko’s interest in dubstep was solidified by the Leeds nightclub, SubDub. Here, he truly discovered his appreciation for this particular genre of music and wanted his work to be about similar sound. From here, Rusko moved to London to pursue a career in music alongside Caspa. Together, they were signed to the record label Sub Soldiers.
The approach to the genre was quite different before Rusko joined the underground scene. Dubstep was regarded as dark and morose with heavy bass lines and a sound quality with resembled auto tune. Dark tones in synthesized riffs and a heavy drum line were also common here. Rusko wanted to bring a fun, lighter approach to dubstep. His take on the genre brought the music out of the underground rave scene and into clubs. Rusko’s dubstep was more energetic and adventurous. It then started to get played alongside dance music and thus attracted an audience outside of the dubstep community. Rusko tickets began to sell as more and more people started to take interest in the new and interesting sounding music. Rusko’s production gave it mainstream attention. On top of that, his single “Cockney Thug” became massively popular and many artists, DJs and remixers have since covered the track. These include his then label mate Caspa, Pete Tong, Buraka Som Sistema, Drop the Lime, the Scratch Perverts, Diplo, Switch, M.I.A., and Santogold. Rusko himself has remixed a number of popular songs from artists like Adele. He is probably also responsible for the new trend of producing dubstep versions of popular songs. His remixes of Adele and A-Trak songs are very popular among his fans and are a main attraction when buying Rusko tickets. They have received a respectable amount of radio airplay as well. He is already looking to collaborate with Ne-Yo, Wiley, Switch and Yo Majesty. Britney Spears has also expressed interest in collaborating with Rusko on her new album.
Rusko released his first album, “O.M.G.!” in March, 2010. The album had a number of unusual elements and instruments involved to help create the unique sound. The sound of actual glass shattering, pots clanging, video game sounds and car alarms have been used to create a different take on dubstep. Popular singles off this album were “Woo Boost” and “Hold On.” Rusko did a number of collaborations on this album including a song with Dirty Projectors, one with Ben Westbeech, the song “Oy” with Crookers, and the song “Got Da Groove” with Gucci Mane. While Rusko tickets for the promotion tour of this album are still being sold, he is already looking to release a new album titled “Songs” come early 2012.
At just 26 years of age, Rusko has become a dubstep prodigy. Fans have described Rusko’s sound as wonky, tremor inducing, pulsating and massive. Others find it hard to put into words and say that listening to Rusko live goes beyond any wordy description; it is an entirely new experience and the sound is perceived differently by different people. Some fans describe his music as being otherworldly—dubstep to them sounds like alien music, an exciting experience. Another reason why people buy Rusko tickets is that his shows are not your typical concerts. They are more like raves, or even simply parties where fans are free to dance to the music. Rusko himself has defined his target demographic as being people between the ages of 14 and 21. Being quite young himself, he brings the fun, edgy and adventurous feel to his shows and makes them feel more like parties.
