He disliked his original name, Marvin Aday, since the beginning but when a Levi's commercial painted the picture of "Poor fat Marvin [who] can't wear Levi's", he changed his name from Marvin to Micheal. His father used to call him "Meat". The fat, eighth grader accidently stepped on his coach's foot, the coach exclaimed with pain, "Get off my foot, you hunk of Meat Loaf!" It was then the bystanders started calling him with the name "Meat loaf" and the name stuck with him. Meat defines Broadway as his first love and considers himself as an actor before anything else. He has performed in Hair, an American tribal love-rock musical, in its original cast. He also worked in the New York Shakespeare Festival with Joseph Papp.
