Enrique Martín Morales is a Grammy Award and Latin Grammy Award-winning Puerto Rican pop singer. He became famous first as a member of the Latin boy band Menudo, then as a solo artist since 1991. He has been successful in selling over 55 million albums around the world. There are a total of over thirty hit singles to his credit. His twenty one top-ten hits are charting on the U.S. Latin Charts, eight of which reached number one.

Solo career and first album
Martin was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on December 24, 1971. Later on , he moved to the United States and then to Mexico City where he started acting. At first, he acted in theater productions. In 1991, He was successful in recording his first album, Ricky Martin. The single "Fuego Contra Fuego" was included in this super hit album. Over 500,000 copies of this popular album were sold out worldwide.

Me Amarás
Ricky Martin' second album Me Amarás was released in 1993. It was also a super hit album and had a record sale of than a million copies worldwide.

He moved to Los Angeles, California in 1994,. He was given a role as bartender (Miguel Morez) in the American soap opera General Hospital.Martin returned to the studio after completing his world wide concert tour. He then recorded his fourth album called Vuelve. This album was also proved to be a huge success.There was record sale of eight million copies of this super hit album all over the world. "Vuelve" was certified platinum by the RIAA.

Rick also got an opportunity of appearing for the first time in a Broadway production, as the romantic lead, Marius Pontmercy in Les Miserables.

Ricky has the distinction of being chosen to sing the anthem of the 1998 FIFA World Cup, the famous hit "The Cup of Life"/"La Copa de la Vida".

La Historia and The Best of Ricky Martin Martin released a Spanish Greatest Hits album entitled La Historia in 2001. It rose to number one in the Latin Charts and stayed there for five weeks. He released his English greatest hits album ,The Best of Ricky Martin in the same year. Over one million copies of this mega hit album were sold all over the world.

Life
Since 2000's Sound Loaded and the tenth album of his career, Martin released his first English language album called Life on October 11, 2005. Martin was also the co-writer of most of the songs of this album.This album was truly a representation of his emotions. The album debuted at number six on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. "I Don't Care"/"Qué Más Da" was the first single from the album which featured the guest appearances by Fat Joe and Amerie."Drop It on Me", was another single which didn't even chart.

Soon after, Martin made an announcement of his Latin American tour called Una Noche con Ricky Martin for the promotion of his latest album Life.

The tour started in Mexico City. After finishing the first leg of the tour (which included Latin America and the U.S.), he released his next single, "It's Alright" (Spanish version: "Déjate Llevar"). A different version appeared in France. Additional vocals by French hip-hop singer Matt Pokora were also included in this version. The song became very much popular and it rose to number one in France.

Martin showed his performance at the 2006 Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony in Turin.

A few days later, he announced the second leg of his world tour (which included Europe and Africa) called One Night Only/Una Noche Con Ricky Martin World Tour. It started on April 21 in Manchester, U.K., and ended on June 3 in Tel Aviv, Israel. In addition, Martin performed at the World Cup Fan Party in Berlin (Brandenburger Tor) on June 7, 2006, and at Lebanon's Beiteddine Festival on May 27 at the BIEL seafront hall in Beirut. Martin also recorded an Arabic/Spanglish version of "Drop It on Me", "Enta Omri" with Arabic pop star Cheb Mami during this visit to Jordan.

Social work
Martin has the honor of being the Goodwill Ambassador to UNICEF. He has established the Ricky Martin Foundation in Puerto Rico to advocate for the welfare of children around the world.

Ricky Martin has also collaborated with the International Organization for Migration on the "Llama y Vive" (Call and Live). It is a campaign which is aimed to facilitate prevention of human trafficking, protection of the youngest victims of child trafficking, and prosecution of the traffickers.
