Raymond Albert Ray Romano started out showbusiness as an American actor and established himself as a writer and stand-up comedian. Ray Roman earned significant recognition for his role on the sitcom, Everybody Loves Raymond. He was born in Queens, NY, in 1957 and formed his comedy troupe, No Talent, at the age of 16. The aspiring funnyman quickly gained attention for possessing a strong streak of tickling the funny bones of audience. He improved his stage skills but held off on his spotlight aspirations when he joined Queens College as an accountant.
Romano dabbled in odd jobs during an exhausting decade-long struggle. But, it wasn't until winning a NYC radio station-sponsored comedy contest when his true-to-life childhood dreams came true. His struggling days were over and he began to succeed as a standup comedian. Reminiscing the early years of his career in showbusiness - Romano stated that performing in front of legendary host Johnny Carson in 1991 was one of his childhood dreams he had long lived with.
In the following years, more television appearances of Ray Romano followed which earned him national exposure. In 1995, he appeared on Late Night with David Letterman. The flawless performance with perfect chemistry prompted Letterman to develop a sitcom with Romano. Romano, availing this chance to prove himself, successfully premiered Everybody Loves Raymond in September 1996. The sitcom proved to be a major hit for presenting offbeat domestic observations in a humorous way. Striking a chord with both critics and audience alike - everybody Loves Raymond did manage to get nominations for numerous prestigious awards like Emmy and Golden Globe.
Ray Romano also made his appearances on Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Hollywood Squares, A somber turn in America: A Tribute to Heroes, and other shows. These happened to be incredible and received huge critical acclaim. With humorous yet profound work, Ray Romano entered into the new millennium, branching out into big arenas throughout the United States.
Everybody Loves Raymond didn't prove to be a breakthrough for Ray Romano only. It broke Kevin James to mainstream as well. James shot to fame as an American comedian and actor. He joined a community theater to break up the monotony of summer and realized his knack for comedy. He began performing with his brother, Gary Valentine, at comedy clubs and performed standup for over a decade. His unrelenting job and stage skills turned him into a Star Search favorite.
However, it wasn't until 1996 did Kevin James gain wide recognition for his appearance on Just For Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival. Several prominent figures raised their eyebrows over his humor-filled performances. James, later on, appeared on Ray's sitcom, Everybody Loves Raymond, in a recurring role. He also drew considerable attention when played the lead character on The King of Queens. The King of Queens is a CBS sitcom with satisfied ratings. Besides standup comedy Kevin James did couple of movies as well, the most notable being Larry and Paul Blart: Mall Cop and I Now Pronounce You Chuck.
