The up and coming duo that has just started to make its presence felt in the word of hip-hop music, Rae Sremmurd, is a promising act to watch out for. The two have already come out with five hit singles including, No Flex Zone, No Type, Throw Some Mo, Up Like Trump and This Could Be Us. No Type found itself at the number three spot on the US Hot R&B/ Hip-Hop Songs. They are now gearing up for a tour and will be making their way to a town near you. Rae Sremmurd comprises of two brothers, Slim Jimmy and Swae Lee who were born in California but were brought up in Tupelo, the hometown of none other than the legendary, Elvis Presley. They had a tough childhood as not only were they living on dangerous streets notorious for their crime rate but were also surviving on their own by taking shelter in abandoned homes. The duo took the music of David Banner as a source of inspiration in order to break the shackles of day to day depression.
Picking up their interest in music, the boys started to perform at parties and in shows around town. They then learned how to record, make beats and DJ. Their performances and skills earned them an appearance on the “Wild Out Wednesdays” segment during BET's music video countdown show.
They soon caught the attention of P-Nazty who was signed to super producer Mike WiLL. Impressed by the duo's energy and talents, P-Nazty arranged a meeting with Mike WiLL who signed them on the spot and so a new chapter began for Rae Sremmurd.
Rae Sremmurd took their name from Mike WiLL's record label, Eardrummers spelled backwards. They came out with their debut single No Flex Zone which picked up the number thirty six spot on the US Billboard Hot 100. The success of the track brought their way a performance at the 2014 BET Hip-Hop Awards. They followed that up by releasing their next single, No Type which turned out to be an even bigger hit. It went to the number sixteen spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 and earned them their first late night show appearance on The Tonight Show.
After making a name for themselves in the music industry with their two hit singles, the brothers put out their debut album, 'SremmLife' in 2015. The album picked up number one spot on the US Top Rap Albums and the US Top R&B/ Hip-Hop Albums. It also went to the number five position on the US Billboard 200.
The album spawned five singles and also featured guest appearances by the likes of, Nicki Minaj, Big Sean, Young Thug and Jace of Two-9. The album also got favorable reviews from the critics all across the board to put Rae Sremmurd among artists to look out for.
The brothers further expanded their territory by collaborating with some of the biggest and most talented artists of today. The dynamic duo has already set the music industry abuzz and who knows what they have got in store for their fans as they get ready for a major tour. They are now about to hit the road and their journey will take them to various cities around the country.
