Details of RBD and the Ticket Luck value

RBD
RBD is a Mexican Pop group that became popular through Televisa's teenage show telenovela Rebelde, one of the most popular teen soaps in Mexico that had a huge impact on the Latin-American youth. RBD has become a great commercial success with appeal across the region and has received a Latin Grammy Award nomination. The group has also gained popularity in non-spanish speaking countries such as Brazil. The group has sold over 20 million albums worldwide.

History
Rebelde is a Mexican novela or soap opera produced by Televisa and stars the members of the group RBD. The show is a copy of an Argentinean show, Rebelde Way, but adapted for the Mexican audience with different characters. The series ran for three seasons, with the final episode being airing in Mexico in June 2006. The soap opera is set at a prestigious private boarding high school near Mexico called the Elite Way School. In addition to the students, the school's faculty and the parents are featured with subplots as well. Another feature of the show is the common use of English words and phrases used by high school kids in the US. The major story line of the series revolves around a group of students who get together to form a band called RBD. RBD is also a band in real life made up of the same band members from the show. RBD performs its music both on the show and in real life and has been considerably successful becoming one of the highest-grossing acts in Mexico and touring internationally.

The band released its debut album Rebelde in December 2004 through EMI records. Most of the music was written by DJ Kafka and Max di Carlo. The first three singles from the album Rebelde, Solo Qu?date En Silencio and S?lvame all became number one hits in Mexico, with the fourth single, Un Poco De Tu Amor reaching number two.

In 2005 a portuguese version of the album was released for the Brazilian market called Rebelde (Edi??o Brasil). Rebelde also sold well in the United States, despite the fact that it was a Spanish album and reached the Top 100 of the album charts and number two on the Top Latin Albums chart. The album sold over 400,000 copies in the U.S. and was certified diamond in both Mexico and Brazil, selling at least 1.4 million copies. In July 2005 the band released a CD/DVD, Tour Generaci?n RBD En Vivo, which included the group's sold-out tour of Mexico. The group had 35 sold-out concerts across the country, including six in Mexico City alone. N

RBD ? A Latin American Phenomenon
Not only in Mexico, but all over Latin America RBD has become a huge phenomenon. In Columbia the band sold more records than the most popular local act Juanes. In Chile it sold over 5,000 tickets in just a few hours. In Brazil, RBD had a 12 city stadium tour, including a concert on the world's biggest stadium Maracan? in Rio De Janeiro, selling over 50,000 of the 78,000 seats in just 2 hours. The historical concert was recorded and released on DVD, titled Live In Rio. The band has also received a certification for selling over 2.5 million copies of their albums and DVDs in Brazil. In Spain, Rebelde spent 5 weeks on the top of the charts going 2 times platinum for sales over 160,000. The band's other album Nuestro Amor was also certified 2x platinum, while its latest album Celestial, released in March 2007, was certified gold after only three weeks of being in the charts.

In March 2 2007, band member Christian Chavez revealed that he was homosexual after pictures of him getting married to another man in Canada were seen on the internet. He wrote a letter to his fans on the band's official website asking for their understanding and acceptance.

At present, the band is working on two independent projects. One is S?lvame, an organization that helps homeless youngsters get an education and shelter and the other is a sitcom called RBD: La Familia. In an interview in late March 2007, RBD band member Dulce Mar?a revealed that S?lvame would start operating on May 1st 2007 and that the band was also considering starting a similar project in Brazil and Spain in addition to Mexico.

RBD's success is evident from its four nominations in three categories for the 2007 Billboard Latin Music Awards. The band was twice nominated in the category for 'Latin Pop Album Of The Year By A Duo Or Group', for albums Celestial and Live In Hollywood, which were both released in 2006. They were also nominated for 'Top Latin Albums Artist Of The Year' and 'Latin Tour Of The Year' for their tour Generaci?n 2006. The show was be held on April 26 in Miami. RBD won in all three categories. Following the Billboard awards, the group set off on its 2007 tour that began in Ecudar in April.

Other achievements and popular performances of the band include their appearance at the Miss Universe 2007 contest held in Mexico City for which they were personally chosen by Donald Trump himself. In June 2007, RBD recorded the video for B?same Sin Miedo in Transylvania, while touring in Romania. Later, the band toured Spain and recorded a new live DVD, Live In Madrid, to be released in September 2007. Most recently RBD was chosen to headline alongside the Black Eyed Peas for a series of Pepsi commercials to air in South America and Spanish-speaking countries.

July 19th, 2007 was another big day for RBD when it performed its single B?same Sin Miedo at the Premios Juventud 2007. The same night RBD won 7 awards, including Voice of the moment and Favorite Concert. To date the band has won a total of 24 Premios Juventud awards. The following day, on July 20, 2007, RBD revealed its new tour bus on El Gordo Y La Flaca for their Celestial World Tour. On July 25, 2007, RBD performed at an acoustic concert in Mexico City as part of a new Ritmoson Latino Show called Confesiones En Concierto. The group's success has been so far reaching that its song Tu Amor has been nominated as best international song in France.
