Details of R City and the Ticket Luck value
Combining pop, hip-hop and Caribbean flavors, the brothers Timothy and Theron Thomas have written numerous hits for other artists under the moniker Rock City. Entering the music scene after graduating from high school, they moved from their home in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands to Miami and started penning songs for Akon. As success followed, they were introduced to the other biggies of the music world and Usher, the Pussycat Dolls, Sean Kingston and Ashlee Simpson owe some of their award-winning singles to the R. City. They produced the chart-dominating, multiplatinum hits like “Pour It Up” by Rihanna, “The Night Is Still Young” by Nicki Minaj and “We Can't Stop” by Miley Cyrus. Singing and rapping since they were nine years old, R. City finally released their first studio album in 2015 titled “What Dreams Are Made Of”.
R. City Move From Behind The Scenes, Make Debut As Full-Fledged Artists
R. City spent most of their music career behind the scenes and has finally taken the leap from producer-writers to recording artists. The brothers Timothy “A.I.” and Theron “Uptown AP” Thomas released “What Dreams Are Made Of” in October 2015 under Dr. Luke's label Kemosabe. A mixed bag, the album is packed with hip-hop arrangements, reggae fusion songs and several tracks have rapped verses performed with pop-style voiced choruses. Going all out, R. City has introduced strong hooks and the listeners are treated to the infectious marching beat of Broadway.
The duo has shown a lot of creativity in this effort and one of the biggest tracks from it is “Locked Away”. Effortlessly blending reggae elements, the song is an exciting mix of hip-hop and pop jams. Staying true to their roots, they have composed music that has influenced them in all these years. With their unique sound and catchy hooks, R. City is all set to take over the pop charts.
Some Highlights From “What Dreams Are Made Of”
It's R. City's time to shine with their brilliantly produced debut album. There are plenty of things to enjoy in the record and the single “Locked Away” tops the list. Featuring Adam Levine, it packs a powerful punch and beautifully uses upper tenor pipes. The track list moves on soundly with “Checking For You” and the soulful number “Over”. Akon features in “Live By The Gun” and along with the other single “Slave To The Dollar” it showcases the edgier and harder persona of the duo. The fun continues with “Save My Soul” that treats the listeners to an ingenious fusion of reggae, folk, soul and gospel. Though there is nothing revolutionary about “What Dreams Are Made Of”, it's a rock solid effort and is immensely enjoyable.
