Details of Pointfest and the Ticket Luck value
Featuring almost every popular and hard rock group in America, Pointfest is a major festival that is held bi-annually in St. Louis, Missouri. The chosen venue for this festival is Verizon Wireless Amphitheater St. Louis. Several talented popular alternative and hard rock groups in America have performed here like 'Gravity Kills', 'Ludo', 'The Urge' and 'Modern Day Zero'. The major acts and hardliners perform at the main stage, while other bands play two or more stages further off the lawn. Traditionally, the small acts are initiated at the start of the festival while the major acts are usually held in the evening towards 6 pm as the scene becomes more entwined with entertainment.
The Verizon Wireless Amphitheater where Poinfest is held every year is an outdoor concert venue with 7,000 seats. The venue also has lawn seating for 13,000 and is situated at Maryland Heights, Missouri near St. Louis. The venue was inaugurated in June 1991 where Steve Winwood performed. UMB Bank attained the naming rights to the venue for 5 years in 2002. Verizon Wireless then acquired the rights after purchasing in November 2006.
Pointfest 1 was held in September 1993 with such groups taking part as 'Matthew Sweet', 'Dramarama', 'They Might Be Giants', 'Aimee Mann', 'Midnight Oil', and 'Hothouse Flowers'. Pointfest 2 seized the hearts of the music lovers in August 1994 and was known as Pointfest '94. In 1995, two episodes of Pointfest were held with the first one known as Pointfest '95 and the second one called Poinfest 4. In the second festival of 1995, a more dynamic set of performers strutted their affair. Some of the names are 'The Nixons', 'Better than Ezra', 'The Urge' and 'Everclear'.
The year 1996 again saw two festivals of Poinfest taking place, first one in May 1996 (Poinfest 5) and the second one in September 1996 (Pointfest 6). For the years 1997 and 1998 also, two festivals per year were held. Pointfest 12 held in May 2000 was a sizzling event where bands like 'The Mighty Mighty Bosstones', 'Goldfinger', 'Toadies', 'Stir' and 'Colony' performed. 'Slipknot' and 'Mudvayne' were all set to play there numbers at Pointfest 12 but backed off at the last minute.
In the year 2001, Pointfest 13 was held as a single festival while for the year 2002 also, Pointfest 14 was recorded as a single event. 'Big Blue Monkey' managed to supersede others to perform the opening number at Pointfest 14, securing one of their videos onto the tour bus of Goldfinger. Vocalist John Feldman noticed the video which paid off in a spot touring with Goldfinger, a major record deal, and a name change to Story of the Year. In Pointfest 16 held in June 2004, 'Tool' or 'A Perfect Circle' were supposed to take part but it was just rumor and neither band really showed up. However, the bands that did shake the audience with their awesome hits on the main stage were 'The Urge', 'Breaking Benjamin' and 'Papa Roach'. The latest event Pointfest 25 was held on August 23, 2009.
