Details of Placebo and the Ticket Luck value
Placebo is one of the most famous rock bands to emerge from England in the '90s. The band's flamboyant image and their great music made them a very influential glam rock band. Their seven studio albums have charted in the top 15 on the UK charts. The band is famous across Europe, UK, Australia and the US, having sold more than eleven million records in these countries.
At any given point, Placebo has been a trio, with front man Brian Molko and bassist Stefan Olsdal being the consistent members. Molko is the androgynous and charismatic vocalist as well as the lead guitarist for the band. Olsdal assists on guitars and bass. In the beginning, the duo was joined by drummer Robert Schultzberg when the band was formed in 1994. Two years later, Schultzberg was replaced by Steve Hewitt who took the drumming charge well into the band's career but resigned in 2007. Since then, Steve Forrest has been hitting the drums for Placebo.
Molko and Olsdal attended the American International School of Luxembourg. One fortunate meeting brought the two together because of their similar musical interests. The duo decided to form a band, Ashtray Heart, but they lacked the third integral; a drummer. Stevie Hewitt was recommended by Molko but because of his prior commitments, he refused. So for the first two years, Robert Schultzberg completed the trio, Placebo. The name for the band has been inspired by the Latin word 'Placebo' which translates to 'I will please'. The name was in line with the '90s trend of naming the band after a drug.
Placebo's music and imagery is androgynous in nature. The band is famous for its references to LGBT themes, drugs, sex and rebellion in general.
