Details of Peter Gabriel and the Ticket Luck value
Peter Gabriel-- the Genesis" costumed showman of the past and revolutionary producer cum promoter of World music today! Peter Gabriel is the name associated with progressive rock music for more than half a century. He has also been a humanitarian and Nobel Prize Laureates has declared him "The Man of Peace"for his efforts.
Gabriel was born in a family of Musicians so it was not a surprise when he started out a band with his charterhouse pupil. The Band was a rock progressive band named as Genesis and Peter was a lead vocalist as well as flautist of the band. Other members of the band included Tony Banks, Anthony Phillips, Mike Rutherford, and Chris Stewart. Their band was known for their Flamboyant stage performances as they incorporated dramatically bizarre costumes and sparse lighting. Their performances would open with a dream like story introducing the song. The Black Light was a major element in their concert with fluorescent white backdrop. The subdued lights created the effect of silhouettes and Gabriel's fluorescent ensemble offering a total contrast. The band made a mark in many European countries including England, Italy, Belgium and Germany amongst others. Due to some differences with other band members Gabriel left the band in 1975 and this was a beginning of his solo career.
His first hits as a solo artist came with his song "Solsbury Hill" from self-titled album. The Song gathered a lot of attention as Gabriel showcased his true feelings about leaving Genesis. His second album also self titled as he refused to name it, hinted towards his growth as a musician as it darker and leaner in terms of music. His third venture was more inspired from the world music and focused heavily on bold percussion. It was him that brought the trend of Gated drums in music.
His Fourth album with all of its unusual sound and disturbing theme was huge. The Songs like "Shock the Monkey" and "I Have the Touch" were in the major music charts including US Top 40 and MTV. His first four typeface albums are more precisely referred to as Car, Scratch, Melt and Security. His concerts as a solo artist were initially simple devoid of the dramatis that was once his forte. When he started touring for "Security" all of the unusual makeup and Fresnel lens up do was back.
In 1986, Gabriel came up his album called "So" and the album landed him as an international rock star. His songs "Sledgehammer", "Big Time", and "Don't Give Up" were literally everywhere in the UK Top 20 hits and In US Top 40. The thing couldn"t get any better when his song "Sledgehammer" knocked off Genesis" "Invisible Touch" for the top spot in US charts. The things were really working out for Gabriel, he did the soundtrack called Passion for Martin Scorsese's movie The Last Temptation of Christ and won his first Grammy for that.
His next release was "Us"; the album explored the issues of his personal life and distancing relationships. " Us" did mediocre on charts but the music videos of Digging the Dirt" and "steam" earned him three Grammy Awards. Subsequently he released "Up" in 2002 returning to his work of late 70s and 80s. The album didn"t create much buzz on the charts but sold number of record internationally. Gabriel has released an album "Big Blue Ball" and is on his way to release his album of cover songs called "Scratch My Back." Apart from his studio albums he is actively producing soundtracks for various movies. His famous soundtracks include "Birdy", "Passions" and "Long Walk Home."
The love of Gabriel with world music has been old and is still growing as shown from WOMAD. This is actually World of Music, Arts and Dance movement initiated to encourage artists to create and record such music. He has created Real World Studio for this matter and has brought the work of musicians like Yungchen Lhamo, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Youssou N'dour to the western limelight. His venerable affiliation with human rights has prompted the launch of another project called WITNESS. This project earned him the Nobel Prize for Man of Peace. He was also honored Ivor Novello Award for lifetime achievements in music composition.We7 is also one his projects that is supported basically by advertising and allows free music streaming.
