Originating from Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, Pepper is a band made up of three members. The group includes Yesod Williams on the backing vocals and drums, Kaleo Wassman on the guitar and vocals and Bret Bolinger on the bass guitar as well as vocals. The group's music revolves around the genres of dub, ska, reggae, and alternative rock. They were formed in the year 1997 and ever since then, they have been producing quality music and giving live performances for their fans all over the United States. They have a total of five studio records to their credit. In addition to that, they have also released one live album over the course of their career.
The band takes its influence from Three Plus, who is a very famous artist from Hawai. In addition to that, they are also inspired by Sublime, a popular mainstream band. The band managed to land their first ever recording contract in the year 1999, two years after recording their seven song demo. Volcom Entertainment, which was a record label based in Los Angeles, heard their music and became interested in them. The band then released their debut studio album under the title of Give'n It. This album consisted of various genres of music such as pop, hip hop, reggae and dancehall.
Their first album went on to become a considerable success and the band managed to gain a large fan following. Pepper went on their first tour in the year 2001 when they were selected to be part of the Warped Tour. They toured extensively for years before hitting the studio again for their second album. The record was titled Kona Town and was issued in March of the year 2002. However, this album was not received with as much success as their debut album. The band was criticized for producing low quality songs. They were also accused for copying the music of Sublime.
During the years 2003 and 2004, the band continued to perform on tour. They performed with various popular musicians such as Snoop Dogg, 311 and various more as well. They were also part of the annual celebration of Bob Marley's birthday. In addition to that, they performed with Slightly Stoopid on a tour of the United States and were part of a popular festival in San Diego called Street Scene.
Pepper released their third studio album in March of the year 2004. The album was named In With The Old. This album went on to become a big success and managed to get on the number eighteen on the independent albums chart and number thirty five spot on the Billboard Heat Seekers chart. The record showcased versatility and a broad range of influences. The album also featured Ronnie King, the punk producer and keyboard player.
On the 20th of July, 2006, the band went on another tour of the United States along with The Wailers and 311. The fourth studio record of the band was released on the 3rd of October, 2006. It was named No Shame. The album contained production from various artists such as Paul Leary, Tony Kanal and Nick Hexum. One of the most popular tracks of the album was No Control, which was also turned into a music video. Do not miss the latest concerts of this brilliant group. Buy Pepper tickets now.
