Rapping is tough. You need a special talent to rap and one of the biggest exponents of that art on the circuit today is Drake. For the last thirteen years, this Canadian performer has entertained millions around the world and now he is about to step on to the stage once again at the event that he created, the OVO Fest. He will be joined there by a host of other stars but it will be Drake who will once again be under spotlight. It will be another amazing event and you can be a part of it live by simply getting your hands on OVO Fest Drake tickets. It will be epic.
The OVO Fest will be held of the fifth time this year. This celebration of rap music is now among the most famous and the biggest festivals on the circuit today. The likes of Snoop Dogg, J.Cole, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne have all performed at the OVO Fest at some point in the past. The presence of these stars has contributed in making the event as famous as it is today.
Having said all that, without Drake, the OVO Fest just simple wouldn't have existed because it was him who came up with the idea to start a festival that would bring together the biggest names in hip hop music on stage together at one epic event. Drake was fifteen years old when he landed a role in "Degrassi: The Next Generation," a television show in Canada. Even though that wasn't paying him much, Drake stuck to it and remained a part of the program all the way till 2009.
In the meanwhile he had started to come up with his own recordings. He recorded his first mixtape titled "Room for Improvement" and released it in 2006. He followed that up by coming out with another tape, "Comeback Season" next year. Drake's music found its way to Lil Wayne, who then asked the young Canadian to join him on tour and that is when his life began to move in the right direction.
His next mixtape was titled "So Far Gone" and he put it on the internet as a free download. The tape was downloaded by over two thousand fans in just two hours after its release. It wasn't long before So Far Gone made its way to radio and that provided Drake with some exposure for the first time. His songs "Every Girl" and "Best I Ever Had" went on to capture tenth and the third spot respectively making Drake the second artist in history to have two Top ten songs in one week. He was signed up by Young Money Entertainment shortly afterwards.
15th September, 2009 marked the release of So Far Gone in the shape of an EP containing seven tracks. The album went gold in the United States in no time. Not only that, but it also won the "Rap Recording of the Year" Juno Award. He came out with his debut album, "Thank Me Later" in the summer of 2010. It debuted on the top spot at the Billboard 200 and sold four hundred and forty seven thousand copies in its first week.
Drake's next album, "Take Care" was released in November 2011. The album and multiple tracks from it went on to get a lot of attention from fans and critics alike. It went straight to the top of the Billboard 200 on its release and sold six hundred and thirty one thousand copies in the first week. Take Care went two times platinum in a little over four months later. The album also brought his way a Grammy.
The follow up "Nothing Was the Same" hit the music stores in September, 2013 and just like its predecessors it debuted on the top of the Billboard 200 as well. It was bought by six hundred and fifty eight thousand fans in the first week alone and the album has since gone on to sell over one and half million copies to get platinum status in the United States. It was nominated for a Grammy and Drake won a Juno Award for it.
The OVO Fest Drake performance(s) will once again be the talk to the town when the event begins. Thousands of rap fans are expected to buy OVO Fest Drake tickets this year as well to watch their favorite star performing live. This year's event promises to the biggest of them all.
