Get Oliver Dragojevic tickets for a live dose of Croatian pop this summer. Oliver Dragojevic is an international award-winning Croatian pop star. He was born and raised in the small island of Korcula.
Oliver had a passion for music since early childhood. He began composing when he was in school. Soon Dragojevic also began learning to play the piano. In his youth he further trained himself in music academically. He became the apprentice of famous pianists in the Eastern Europe.
It was in the early 70s that the artist turned his focus towards mainstream music. He got slow and gradual recognition when his song "Picaferaj" went viral. This 1967 release was heard by more people at the Split Croatia Music Festival. Here, he was able to impress his audience, singers and a number of producers/ songwriters with his command over Dalmatian. This form of Croatian folklore was a specialty mastered by a few renowned artists in the country. Dalmatian folklore is very popular amongst the locals because of the traditional non-tempered low range tunes. However, Oliver added more flavor to the traditional sound which became popular all over the Eastern Europe in no time. His pop touch gave this traditional form of music a new feel and energy.
Dragojevic became one of Croatia's premier pop artists and pianists during the 80s. In a few years he became a prominent performer in the annual music festivals in Yugoslavia. He experimented more with music while working with singers and composers across the border. This exposure allowed him to make songs and work with names like Zdenko Runjic. One of the songs written by Runjic was Nadalina. The song featured Boris Dvornik in the video. It was Dragojevic's most acclaimed number and established him as a well-known musician internationally. Two more singles that brought the artist recognition were "Skalinada" and "Galeb i ja". Although they were Dalmatian anthems, they still made music fans sing and dance to their beats.
Dragojevic has grown as a musician in many ways. He has experimented with a number of genres in his career. By doing so, he came up with very interesting fusions of genres including blues, rock, alternative and indie. He kept his popularity graph rising every year, but it was not until the mid-90s that he became one of the most wanted international performing artists in Europe and North America.
In recent years Dragojevic became more inclined and interested in making popular music. His second phase of collaborations with Runjic produced more hit albums. But this time the duo went way beyond the expectations of their fans. They earned great respect in the international music circuits and also got to perform at a number of international music festivals.
Today, Oliver stands as the sole voice of Croatian pop in the world. He is a singer who continues to inspire many. His recordings and live performances are a treat for the audience. For his fans in the US this year brings great news! They can see him perform live in concerts in Vancouver, San Jose, San Pedro, Detroit, Chicago and New York. Oliver Dragojevic's 2014 tour presents him alongside Nina Badric, Ljiljana Nikolovska, and Tedi Spalato. So all the fans who have been waiting for Oliver Dragojevic tickets, it's time to make a move.
