Noah and The Whale
British folk sensation Noah and the Whale was formed in Twickenham, London, England in 2006. The original line up of the band comprises of Charlie Fink as the vocalist and the guitarist of the band, while Tom Hobden plays fiddle, Doug Fink is the drummer of the band and the bass is played by Matt Urby Whale Owens for the band.
The band made their main stream debut on October 22, 2007 when the band released its debut single titled 5 Years time. It was bands first top ten hit in UK and peaked at #7 spot on UK Singles Chart, while on Irish Singles Chart it peaked at #10 spot.
The Single didnt make it on the chart until its re release on August 4, 2008. The single was used in several TV commercials including in Saturn Corporations commercial for Outlook SUV. The song was utilized in Russian TV commercial for Mobile TeleSystems. The track listing of the single included, 5 Years Time, If I Die Tonight and Girlfriend in A Coma.
A Music video for the single was also released, which was later added to YouTube on June 13, 2008. James Copeman directed the video, and it depicted band members performing in a bar and also playing and dancing in the park.
The second single of the band was 2 bodies 1 heart that was released in 2008. Although the single was included in their debut album still its video was released and was also included in the deluxe version of their debut album.
Noah and the Whale released its third single Shape of My Heart on May 5, 2008 on Mercury Records. The track was re released on October 20, 2008, while its video was released on YouTube on April 8, 2008. After the re release of the track, its music video was re released as well on YouTube on September 23, 2008.
The single debuted at #94 spot on UK Singles Chart. The theme of the first video made for the single was respect to the sci-fi and horror movies that were made from 50s till 80s, while the second video was mainly shot on the beach.
The band released its debut album Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down on August 11, 2008 on Mercury Records. There were two versions of the album that were released, a standard version and a deluxe version.
Standard version of the album comprised of 11 tracks including 2 Atoms in a Molecule, Shape of My Heart, Second Lover and Hold my Hand as Im lowered. Meanwhile, the deluxe version of the album had all 11 tracks along with three music videos of the songs Shape of my heart, 2 Bodies 1 Heart and 5 Years Time.
The album debuted and peaked in UK at #5 spot but the following week it was unable to maintain its position and dropped down 2 spots to the #7 spot and the week after that it was seen on the chart at #15 spot. Albums downfall continued, as on the next week it was at #18 spot.
The album debuted at #32 spot in Ireland which is also its peak position in Ireland. After its first week of release it was confronted with the same fate as it did in UK and continued down falling first at 40th position, then to 56th position the following and then it rose to #37 spot the week after that.
The re released version of 5 Years Time was considered bands fourth single that was released on August 4, 2008. The re released version did considerably well as compared to its original release. Although the single debuted at #24 spot on UK Singles Chart, but later it rose to 7th position, which was its peak position.
In Ireland the single debuted at 47th spot but instead of down falling it rose to 10th spot, which is currently its peak position in Ireland. As of the present moment, re released version of 5 Years Time is bands highest charting song.
Bands single Shape of My Heart was also re released on October 20, 2008 and it became bands 5th single. Shape of My Heart was also re released on Mercury Records. .
