Active since the late 1950s, the artist gained a lot of fame after the release of his debut album, "Gris-Gris". Dr. John's second best known album was, “Dr. John's Gumbo”. The lead single from this album, Iko Iko became a smash hit and marked his entry into the “Billboard top 40 singles chart”.
And that is not it; the album was even ranked on number 402 by Rolling Stone in the list of “The 500 Greatest Albums of All-Time”. His other famous albums include, “Sippiana Hericane”, “In A Sentimental Mood”, “Television”, “Duke Elegant”, “Tango Palace”, “City Lights”, “Goin' Back to New Orleans” and the most recently released, “Locked Down”. Till date, his most well-known single remains the funk-flavored and catchy ballad, Right Place Wrong Time.
