They rocked the world by their performance. This award winning American pop band has a long history about the struggle behind their popularity. It all started in the 1980's when, New Kids on the Block gathered immense success and popularity amongst music lovers. Starting from the scratch, with great zeal and fervor, New kids on the block went through a lot of ups and down before gaining stability to perform up to the mark.

Before applauding its hit music and songs, let us journey back to find out about the early years of endless efforts made by the New Kids. A bunch of teenagers were auditioned and selected by the famous Maurice Starr along with his business partner. A 15 year old boy had down right impressed Starr (famous producer) and his business associate with his dancing ability, who was also the first member of the band.

With his selection came in a sheer responsibility to make a group and hence he provided his services in helping to recruit other members as well. Among the selected candidates were his very own brother and his best friend. Followed them was a one time school mate and his brother. The two had strong vocals to mesmerize audience with it. Gradually, word of mouth and auditions helped in selecting and shaping up the group. During their selection time a boy stepped out of the group being cynical about the whole idea of its bubble gum direction and called it quits.

Replacing him was a neighborhood friend, who had trouble concentrating and without discipline being one of her core reason, was eventually dismissed. Even though the teenagers were amateurs, but somehow Starr had faith in them claiming that if they work hard there is no stopping for them to reach success. Hopeful as he was, Starr brought in replacements for the lead singer, who was initially resented by the other boys but gradually gained his position within the group as its singer. The boys were made to rehearse again and again and again till the word perfect would be blurted.

Now came the part of providing a name for the group. Thinking of a name for the group was another difficult task. Several attempts were made, finally "New kids on the block" was decided after a rap song had been written and then arranged for the first album.

"Try and try again and you will never lose", that's a common phrase which is used when striving for perfection, popularity and break through. Similar is the case with this group band. Initializing their career from 1980's, debut album came into the market with the famous bubble gum pop song material. New kids did capture fame but on limited scale, failing to impress nation wide people.

Thanks to Starr who got the boys hooked on to places as of bars, cafe, school dances etc any where he could get the boys to perform and let more and more people know about them. Heart broken and dissatisfied with the failure of their first album, and after a lot of counseling done by Starr new kids were seen again working harder this time for their next album. And to the amazement of the people it was a super hit album which waved through from places to places and bought fame to New kids journey. Tours to various places became a common thing. The release of the second album bore them a reputation unlimited their popularity graph kept rising on.

By the time 1990 arrived, New Kids on the Block had become one of the most popular band in the world. Come rain come shine, there was nothing that could let New Kids become in famous. One hit after the other and so on and so forth. The album cassettes and cd's sold like hot cakes. The album was eventually certified triple platinum, selling close to twenty million copies worldwide. Their second album worked as their lucky charm and gained monetary, social and personal gain. Gradually came a time when this starry rock / pop band songs were on the top ten charting holiday album and would stay on the charts for over week's time.

Accumulated in Boston, the members who were related to each other strengthened their unity and became known to people all around by their fascinating rap songs, pop music, on the whole giving very presentable albums altogether. However the group parted in 1994 and was re united after a span of 14 years.

New kids on the block are now all set to release their new album soon. Planning is in process, speaking of which an international concert in fall is also on their agenda list. Credit should be given to the hard working youngsters who studied and worked at the same time and gradually gained the energy to become well known to people.
