NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Tickets Information
To some it would seem like an absurd sport with cars running in ovals over and over again. They simply don't understand the sport as it’s a lot more than that. The game brings with it a lot of dimensions. There are a set of rules and interesting limitations that make NASCAR, perhaps one of the most interesting vehicle sports around the world.
NASCAR stands for National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is in short called the ‘Sprint Cup’ or the ‘Cup Series’. This series has taken several different names over the decades that it has officially been a sport. In the start it was the Strictly Stock Series. Then in 1950 the name was changed to Grand National Series and remained so for twenty years up to 1970. The naming rights were then sold R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and as a result, from 1971 to 2003, the race was called Winston Cup Series. From 2004 till 2007 it was called the ‘NEXTEL Cup Series’.
In one given race, the winner is determined through a point system. Points are awarded to drivers mainly on the basis of the number of laps they led and their ending placement.
The season has two legs. The first twenty six races see participation from a large number of drivers. Then for the last ten games, the top ten drivers along with two more drivers with greatest number of wins are selected and they battle it out to see who gets to win.
The Chase for the Championship as it is called. Southeast America is more familiar with the sport than any other part in the whole world, which is why most of the races are held over there. The most glamorous and talked about race is the ‘Daytona 500’ and the show manages to grab the attention of over sixteen million people as per the 2009 statistics. Canada has seen some regular NASCAR action and the people of Japan and Australia also got the see exhibition races.
The Sprint Cup Series has limitations as to the modifications of the car which makes it pretty interesting overall. The cars have ridiculously powerful engines and can boost speeds up to three hundred miles per hour but they are heavy and have poor aerodynamics which makes it difficult to handle them. The electronics in the car are usually old school and very simple.
