My Morning Jacket
American Rock band, My Morning Jacket was formed in 1998 in Louisville, Kentucky and its original line up consisted of the band's lead singer and guitarist Jim James, bassist Tommy, J. Glenn as the drummer and Johnny Quaid as a guitarist.
Later in 2000, the original line up of the band saw an addition of Danny Cash who played the layout and keyboard instruments.
The band was named My Morning Jacket after a worn out jacket embroidered with the Letters 'MMJ', which James found after his favorite bar was burnt down to ashes.
The Tennessee Fire was the band's debut album that was released in 1999 on Darla Records. Their next album that followed was titled At Dawn and was released in 2001 by Darla Records.
Before the release of the album, the band had a new drummer Chris 'KC' Guetig who replaced J. Glenn. Band's line up changed once again in May 2002, when Patrick Hallahan replaced Guetig as the drummer of the band.
The band released its third studio album titled It Still Moves in 2003, after they signed their record deal with ATO Records in 2002. Followed by It Still Moves was their live EP Acoustic Citsuoca.
My Morning Jacket's line up had a change once again in January of 2004, when two new members, Carl Broemel and Bo Koster, replaced Quaid and Cash.
In November of the same year, band also released two collections comprised of their early works titled Early Recordings Chapter-I The Sandworm Cometh and the second one was entitled, Early Recordings Chapter-II Learning.
Their critically acclaimed album titled 'Z', was released in the October of 2005, and depicted evolution of the band. One of the tracks from that album, Where to Begin, was also featured in the Original Soundtracks album of 2005's feature film Elizabethtown.
Apart from releasing their live double album and DVD titled Okonokos in 2006, My Morning Jacket also made an appearance on the Late Night Show with David Letterman and performed with the members of another band called Boston Pops.
On June 10, 2008 the band released its next studio album titled Evil Urges. Before that the band also performed in April at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
My Morning Jacket has also been performing at the Bonnaroo Music Festival, and their appearance in 2008 marked their fifth appearance.
Their set at the festival lasted for 4 hours and they played 35 songs in their set. Apart from performing their own tracks, the band also performed the covers of songs including Get Down on it by Kool and the Gang, Home Sweet Home by Motley Crue, Hit It and Quit It by Funkadelic, Hot Fun in the summertime by Family Stone and Oh!
