Details of Motion City Soundtrack and the Ticket Luck value
Though isolation can bring wisdom at times but group dynamics can bring out the best in you. Mind goes through a continuous learning process all life. Most of the successful ventures in this world might have originated from a single mind but they are only materialized with the help of teamwork. Music is one field where the artistes can do well both as solo executors and as groups. However, the music bands sometimes manage to create a deeper impact on the minds of music lovers due to an air of vigor involved. This is especially true for American rock bands like Motion City Soundtrack that is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Motion City Soundtrack is a very fresh band being founded in 1997 and now only two of the founding members still remain with the group: Joshua Cain (lead guitarist and backing vocalist) and Justin Pierre (lead vocalist and guitarist). Some of the other existing members of the group are Jesse Johnson (keyboardist and moog synthesist), Matthew Taylor (bassist and backing vocalist) and Tony Thaxton (percussionist and backing vocalist). To date, three studio albums have been released by Motion City Soundtrack. The group has sold nearly 600,000 records to date. More than half a million of these records have been sold in the United States alone.
The group kicked off its career with its first release “Promenade/Carolina” (1999) followed by their debut EP, “Kids for America”. Still later on, they marketed their “Back to the Beat”. Next, “I Am the Movie” was their debut album released in 2002. Initially, Motion City Soundtrack did not form a contract with any recording company and self-released their first five releases with just the help of a small record label. This helped them in reaping an increasing fan base and later on they signed a deal with Epitaph Records. As with any project, the group’s first five years proved to be tough and they tried to align the group. In 2003, they re-released “I Am the Movie” with the help of Epitaph records.
Their first main single was “The Future Freaks Me Out” which did very well in live shows and television telecasts, however it failed on the charts and radio relays. Motion City Soundtrack released three Split EPs in 2003 and 2004. They continued to pursue their dreams in a big way and their most successful album so far has been “Commit This To Memory” which has sold more than 285,000 copies apart from grabbing number two slot on the Top Independent Albums chart. One of its single “Everything Is Alright” has been immensely popular on MTV but could not command listeners’ likings on the charts and radio airplay.
The album which shot Motion City Soundtrack to their highest success in chart rankings has been “Even if It Kills Me” (2007). The album secured number one slot on the Top Independent Albums chart while debuting on Billboard 200 at number 16. Some of the hot singles in that album were “This Is for Real”, “It Had to Be You” and “Broken Heart” all of which were subsequently telecast on television. With “My Dinosaur Life”, the album which debuted at number 15 on the Billboard 200 (January 2010), Motion City Soundtrack gained rising respect from their fans. The album marks the group’s deal with a major record label Columbia.
Motion City Soundtrack has managed to inspire a big fan base around the world, including countries like Canada, Japan, United Kingdom and Australia. The story of how the group started is rather interesting. It starts when two local bands were separated. Joshua Cain left “Saddest Girl Story” tagging Justine Pierre from “Slide Coaster” thus forming Motion City Soundtrack in Minnesota. With just the two of them, they started their group later on including guitarist Joe Skinner who did not stay long with the group. Cain realized that for the group to make its name, they had to get out of Minneapolis and conduct tours. It was Cain’s brother who lent the band its name.
Motion City Soundtrack has conducted frequent tours since its inception. To carve their impression on the minds of the music lovers, they performed beside other local acts like AMP 176. With growing fan base, later on they started performing shows with other music groups to lend some glamour to their ventures. They performed in venues at UK that were upgraded to accommodate large number of fans. They conducted 320 shows in 2004, touring across Japan and Europe alongside Blink 182.
