Based in Stockholm, Sweden, Miike Snow is the name of an electro-pop band; although the moniker may suggest it to be a solo artist. It is a trio, comprising American songwriter Andrew Wyatt and Swedish producers Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg, a production team, better known as Bloodshy & Avant. Under the label Bloodshy & Avant, the two - Karlsson and Winnberg, have written and produced hits for international pop acts in the early 2000s, such as Britney Spears, which earned the duo a Grammy for the song "Toxic"; Madonna; Jennifer Lopez; Kylie Minogue; Ms. Dynamite; Kelis and Jordin Sparks.
The trio uses slick guitar riffs and beats, pop synths, and tender lyrics in their songs, thus, their music is said to be perfect for a party scene. Wyatt's vocals on all the tracks have always been a highlight, as they never give the impression to betray a song's true emotion. A lot of synth swirls and junkyard disco breaks can be felt in most of their songs, such as 'Faker'. Miike Snow discloses itself as more of a genuine musical experimentation rather than a vanity project of the producers. The trio's experimentation with New Wave can also be witnessed in their song 'Plastic Jungle'. Other popular tracks produced by Miike Snow include: 'Animal' - the opening song of their self titled debut album Miike Snow; 'In Search Of'; 'Silvia'; 'A Horse Is Not a Home; 'Black & Blue'; 'Song for No One'; 'Cult Logic' and 'Sans Soleil'. All these tracks are unique in their own way and have scored well on the music charts.
Originally, band members Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg had been friends since childhood, spending time playing in bands and working on a variety of projects in studios all over the Gothenburg area. Both made separate moves to Stockholm later. The two re-united in 2000, and met their third band member, Andrew Wyatt, an American songwriter who was based in New York City, in 2004, while working on writing a pop album together. Wyatt is also an in-house producer for Downtown Records, along with being a member of the band Fires of Rome. It wasn't until 2007 that the group Miike Snow formed, and debuted in 2009 on the label Downtown Records, with the track 'Animal'. A set of promotional MP3s was also released that got accepted in the music blogosphere, and included the songs 'Animal' and 'Burial,' and also the remix versions of these songs, done by DJ Mehdi, Crookers, Benny Blanco, and Treasure Fingers. There was also a Miike Snow remix of the Vampire Weekend song 'The Kids Don't Stand a Chance.' The debut album of the band was scheduled for release later in the year on the same label - Downtown Records. After the release of their first full-length, Miike Snow hit the road, touring North America, earning rave reviews.
Miike Snow is scheduled to begin its first UK headline tour in January 2010. The event is going to be big, and being highly anticipated by fans. The Miike Snow Tickets are up for grabs in the market, and are selling our quickly.
