Come and be a part of the 22nd anniversary of the Mariachi Spectacular de Albuquerque; a multi-event event with five days of conferences, variety of shows and concerts celebrating Mariachi. This five day event is a wonderful showcase of the traditional Mariachi folk music. The Albuquerque Spectacular, is a festive event with thrills for all visitors. Mariachi Spectacular started as a commercial venture with the efforts of producer Christine Vazquez and director Thom Eberhardt, who were always enthralled and inspired by the Mariachi culture. They came in contact with the festival's wonderful sights and sounds in 2006, while shooting "Naked Fear", a film by Christine. The film's crew found everything about New Mexico to be very impressive and influential. They got carried away especially by the Spectacular that was in taking place those days. The trio consisting of Noberta Fresquez, Christine and Thom got to see their first Spectacular and decided to do an extensive shooting of this premiere workshop. The team made twenty-six hours of footage of all the events and went back to share their experience with organizers. Realizing the potential of this great event, the organizers came onboard. They redefined it with slight shifts in order to make it suitable for commercial purposed and raise money. This so called new version of the Spectacular help this world class event expand and improve over time.
 
Mariachi Spectacular begins with the Mariachi Student Conference scheduled for the University of New Mexico. It would be followed by the Student Competition Concert scheduled for the Downtown Civic Plaza. The event also has the International Mariachi Hall of Fame ceremony will also be a part of it. The honored inductee of this year is Natividad Nati Cano. Cano is Mariachi musician who has been creating and playing wonderful music for Mariachi fans for over 50 years. He is a violin and vihuela player, the visionary founder of the Mariachi Los Camperos. Currently he is the director of the Mariachi Los Camperos. His band named Mariachi Los Camperos de "Nati" Cano is one of the top tier acclaimed Mariachi ensembles of the United States. It will be a great opportunity to watch him being honored for his accomplishment and also see him perform a special live session in the International Mariachi Hall of Fame ceremony.
 
There are many other performance scheduled in this program but the highlight of them all is the Cien Años Nuevo Mexico. Presented by the Spectacular conference's teaching maestros, the composition would be a reflection of the traditional New Mexico's Centennial. Originally created by Maestro Rigoberto Alfaro Rodriguez and Maestro Miguel Martinez Dominguez both world-renowned International Mariachi Hall of Fame inductees are bound to leave you mesmerized.
 
Mariachi Spectacular will conclude concert featuring a duo from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, namely Mariachi Los Camperos de "Nati" Cano Mariachi International Guadalajara and Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlan from Guadalajara. The Spectacular Concert's lineup also features Mariachi sol de Mexico de Jose Hernandez. It also has masters of the art such as Don Jesus Rodriguez de Hijar, Miguel Martinez, Rigoberto Alfaro, Juan Pinzon and a special performance by this year's special guest, international recording artist Aida Cuevas.
