Madeleine Peyroux was born in Athens Georgia in 1974. While she was just a kid, her parents wanted her to become an actor. After they divorced Peyroux moved with her mom and decided to pursue a career in music instead of acting. Peyroux till date continues to collaborate with this band which includes other seasoned musicians like Frank Schaap, Daniel William, Eugene Semyon Clark and David Alexander Shore.
Madeleine Peyroux is primarily a singer of blues and jazz, apart from this she is a lyricist and a guitar player. She was first noticed by music giant Atlantic Records and as a result she went on to record and release her debut album Dreamland with this company label. It failed to chart but Peyroux presence was felt by the music world. The album was recorded with some of the finest musicians in New York City namely drummer Leon parker, pianist Cyrus Chestnut, bassist Greg Cohen and guitar player Marc Ribot. This is also the highest charting album by Peyroux on US Billboard. Since then she has released three more chart hitting albums namely Bare Bones, Standing on the Rooftop and The Blue Room.

Currently she is represented by the famous American International Artists Company that also manages other well known artists like Sarah Pedinotti (musician and lyricist) and James Carter (saxophone, clarinet and flute player).
