Lonestar were incepted way back in the year 1992. The band during those days consisted of John Rich, Richie McDonald, Dean Sams, Keech Rainwater and Michael Britt. Since all them came from Texas, they named the band “Texassee.” The name was of the group was changed to its current one not too long afterwards.
The band performed for the first time in the year 1993. They began playing locally in and around Nashville. After two years of hard work they finally landed their first recording contract when BNA Records made them a part of their roster in the year 1995. Now that Lonestar had a label to back them, they hit the studio and came out with their first release, an EP by the title of “Lonestar Live.” That was followed by their first track titled “Tequila Talkin” in August, 1995. It turned out to be a big hit that went as high as the eighth spot on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks.
Tequila Talkin then made its way to the band’s self-titled debut album that hit the music stores on 10th October, 1995. It received a pretty good response and had critics purring over their music style. Lonestar then released another single titled “No News.” The song turned out to be an enormous hit that went to the top of the charts and stayed there for three weeks.
They didn’t rest on their laurels and came out with a succession of hits songs like “Runnin Away with My Heart” and “Heartbroke Every Day” that went on to capture prominent positions on various charts. Not only that, but the group marked their success by winning an ACM gong for their efforts as well. Their next album was titled “Crazy Night” which was followed by another chart topping single “Come Cryin to Me.” The band once again went on to release a string of singles like “You Walked In,” “ Everything’s Changed’’ and “Say When.” All these tracks charted on prominent positions and played a big part in establishing Lonestar among the most sought after country music acts of that time.
Rich then made his exit from the band and Jeremy Moyers, Kurt Baumer and Robbie Cheuvront came onboard. Their next album “Lonely Grill” once again put Lonestar under the limelight. The song “Amazed” was a huge hit that went to the pinnacle on country charts and spent an impressive eight weeks at the top spot. The album totaled well over three million in sales, hence was certified three times platinum in the United States.
“I’m Already There” was the title of their next studio album that came out in 2001. It was another big hit that sold in excess of a million copies on its way to going platinum. The year 2004 witnessed the release of “Let’s Be Us Again” and the album went gold. “Coming Home” was released in the year 2005 and went as high as the third spot on “U.S. Billboard Top Country Albums.”
“Mountains” and “Party Heard around the World” were released in 2006 and 2010 respectively to keep them on the list of the most prominent country music artists of their era. With three of their albums going gold and the same number of albums going platinum or above, Lonestar have more than played their part in taking the genre to the masses.
