Hailing from California, Lindsey had been under the influence of classical music since her childhood. It was at the age of 5 that she started studying violin after being inspired by the classical records played by her father. By the age of 12 she had started taking private lessons and at the age of 16, during her high school she joined her first band. It was a rock band called the Stomp on Melvin and consisted of four other friends of hers. Her experience with this band led her to win the titles of Arizona’s Junior Miss and America’s Junior Miss. She was also a member of another ensemble named Charlie Jenkins Band.
Full of resounding energy, Lindsey Stirling is considered an extremely talented violinist, composer and performing artist. Her presence in the world of music was first felt in 2007 when she, driven by a desire to get on “Ellen,” recorded her first video for YouTube. Although the video didn’t earn her a guest appearance on Ellen, it did manage to garner thousands of views and went viral, winning her a huge fan following around the world. Her choreographed violin performances videos on Lindseystomp, her YouTube channel became the first reason behind her gaining legions of fans worldwide. After two years, Lindsey who was 23 years old then became the quarter-finalist at America's Got Talent’s fifth season. There she was dubbed as the hip hop violinist.
The judges at the America’s Got Talent called her performances electrifying which won her the acclaim of the audience as well. However, after she stepped up the dance level in her performances the remarks she received by the judges were not very encouraging. Piers Morgan told her that although she’s talented, she couldn’t really get away with playing the violin and flying through the air at the same time. These results left Lindsey devastated but to prove herself, she continued her unique style of performance and remained a sensation over iTunes and YouTube. It was through her unrelenting passion for violin and dance and self-commitment that Lindsey was able to make a place for herself and is considered as an ingenious performer.
Shortly after her appearance on America’s Got Talent, Lindsey was contacted by Devin Graham to shoot a video together. She agreed and a music video for her song, “Spontaneous Me” was shot in May 2011. This video drastically boosted her popularity and led to the making of other YouTube videos with Graham, who has filmed almost all of the videos of Lindsey. Her main repository is the YouTube channel, Lindseystomp which was named after her first band, Stomp on Melvin. It was during this year that her popularity rose to achieve more than 250 million online views. The number of her channel subscriber went over 2.1 million. Her other YouTube channel, LindseyTime, is a place where she posts vlogs, videos related to her personal life experiences and behind-the-scenes videos. She has been featured on many websites like Last.FM, Spotify and Pandora.
