New York based singer Laura Stevenson is known as a keyboardist of the former musical collective, Bomb the Music Industry. Laura has been learning and practicing music ever since she was a child. Laura was a member of the band, The Arrogant Sons of Bitches and after the breakup of the group in 2005, she was hired as a keyboardist for a new project called Bomb The Music Industry of the lead vocalist Jeff Rosenstock. During this time Laura penned some of her songs and performed solo. While touring with and recording Bomb The Music Industry, Laura Stevenson started to form her own music group named Laura Stevenson & the Cans. Initially, the ensemble consisted mainly of Bomb The Music Industry’s members.
In 2007, Laura hired Michael Campbell, member of the punk music band Latterman from Long Island as a bassist in her group. Alex Billig was later included to play trumpet. Soon after the band was put together, Laura started working on her debut studio album. The band spent most of 2010 touring in North America and Europe with different lineups. Other groups accompanied the group during the tour, which include Cheap Girls, Bomb The Music Industry, Cults and Maps & Atlases. The group came up with its sophomore LP, Sit Resist in 2011 under the label Don Giovanni Records. Laura Stevenson has recently released her third full-length studio record "Wheel". The first single of the album “Runner” has already been released and Stevenson is on the road performing in gigs across the country with fellow New York group Field Mouse. Laura’s album has spawned a track list of lovable songs that include Renee, which is a tender folk single immediately displaying Laura Stevenson's liking for sentimental balladry. Other tracks are Triangle, Every Tense, Journey to the Center of the Earth and Bells and Whistles. Laura has been critically acclaimed and her fans call her an “excellent” performer.
