He was born in Scotland, with roots in Brampton, Ont., brought up in Canada and now resides in Nashville, the capital of the U.S. state of Tennessee. Being inspired by the likes of Dean Martin and Joe Cocker, Johnny decided to pursue his love for music and started experimenting with genres like Pop to Country and Rock & Blues.
He came into the music scene in early 2005 and developed a huge fan base in Canada with his debut album. But the success was not limited to just that place as his work also got the attention of American music aficionados in a big way.
The singer/songwriter Johnny Reid released his first album in March 2005 which was titled Born to Roll on Open Road Recordings. It became a huge hit in Canadian market with songs like Gypsy in my soul, Time Flies. Missing an Angel, Sixty To Zero and You Still Owe Me all hit the top 20 charts.
Missing an Angel proved a breakout success and took the number 1 spot on CMTs Chevy top twenty. The single also marked his debut in the Awards world and Canadians seemed to like the sound of this gracious and lively singer.
After his award winning debut, interest grew in his unique voice and gentleman persona and two years later, in April 2007, he hit back with his second record Kicking Stones.An April 10th release by Open Road Recordings, the album went Platinum in Canada winning the prestige of CCMA Top Selling Canadian Recording.
Recorded in Blue Room Studios with acclaimed Nashville producer and 5 time Grammy winner, Brent Maher, the album proved those wrong who predicted Reid as a one wonder hit. Indeed, with this album Reid showcases his ample talent for putting his feelings of love, gratitude and hope down in words and beautify them with such great music that the listener will sing along with it as if there own.
Along with title track, the album boosts of melodious singles like Thank You, Love Sweet Love, Feelin All Right Today and That Kind Of Lonely all of them showed his command on the craft.

The constantly increasing country radio play and number one videos on CMT, his Kicking Stones act has also got nomination for country recording of the in Juno awards. With his next album slotted to release in the spring of 2009, Johnny Reid is again gearing up to get some more awards and make many more sales.
Johnny Reid also holds an impressive concert record. He can be seen performing everywhere with his amazing music and voice-to-die-for. From his debut Grand Ole Opry performance in 2006 to his headlining Tearing It Up And Breaking It Down Tour in 2008, and from enthralling the students at Gibbons School to touring with some of the countrys biggest stars like Dwight Yoakam, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Brad Paisley and Terri Clark; Johnny Reid has proven himself a safe bet for live performances.
