Mr Valby attributes his love of music to his father Richard who was an accomplished violinist of his time.
It was not until Valby got to Middlebury College in Vermont, when he stated the "Dirt singing". While still at College and majoring in Philosophy, he created a few compositions for his fraternity brothers, many of which are still liked among masses.
After doing Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Middlebury College, John Valby realized that he could not take up music as his career for the demand was limited. He joined the Army. Valby was also an avid hockey player.
He still had a music streak so he thought to give it a shot. Valby turned to his new material and went with it. He found a trend that he started in 1975. He stated off performing at the Buffalo bar circuit where he did ragtime tunes and pop standards.
He did three Dirty songs one night where he became a mirror for the audience and the audience turned out to be even DIRTIER than him.
John Valby songs and shows focus primarily on sex and racial slurs, with a mix of current and historic events. Many of the songs sung by him are like Ya, Ya, Ya (aka limericks), Barnacle Bill, Roll Your Leg Over, etc.
However, John"s performance status is still Legendary at college campuses throughout the United States. The other unusual act Valby produced was that of Buffalo Sabres defenseman Jim Schoenfeld in 1971. He also appeared in a film called Losin' It in 1983.
