Rock music attracts fans of all ages. It has evolved rapidly over the years and its following has quadrupled in the past decade alone. Those in search of fifteen minutes of fame and living a summer dream still got what little fame they could. While the hard core rock bands which stood the test of time have evolved further into mega-stars. One such band is Jimmy Eat World. Starting as a duo the band later went on to include two more members to form the present band.
Since its formation, Jimmy Eat World has released seven albums. Their rise to fame came after nearly eight years with the release of the album ‘Bleed American’ which proved to be a mega success. The band quickly gained international fame with four singles from the album charting in the top twenty of the international Modern Rock Charts. Of these four, ’The Middle’ stayed at number one for nearly twelve weeks and in the charts for another thirty two. The single becoming massive hit went multi-platinum in no time and placed the band in mainstream.
The band went on extensive tours in the wake of the albums success. Their next album, ‘Futures’ was sold out within a week of its release. Also they again achieved a chart topper with their platinum selling song ‘Pain.’ Success has come easy since then to this highly skilled foursome. Their album ‘Chase the Light’ released in 2007 remained at number five for a staggering twenty weeks on the Billboard 200 Album Charts.
The founding members of the band, Jim Adkins and Zach Lind had been friends since they were children. They grew up in the same neighborhood, had the same dreams and aspirations. Growing up listening to Pink Floyd and U2 the boys aspired to make it big in the world of music. Forming the band they fulfilled their dream. Before other band members Tom Linton and Rick Burch joined them, the boys had a difficult time finding the right musicians for bass and drums. However, after the slow response to their first album they both went into overdrive looking for the right members for their band. With the addition of Tom Linton and Rick Burch, the band was destined to flourish.
It is a wide misunderstanding that the acronym of the band, which is JEW, refers to religious inclinations; however that is not the case. The name actually came from a fight that the founding member Jim Adkins had with his siblings while he was young. In an attempt to get back at him, they drew a huge picture on the wall of his room which showed a hug earth being eaten by Jim, and hence the name.
The band is scheduled to perform live in a fantastic and absolutely rocking concert. You can now get your Jimmy Eat World tickets and experience a mind blowing performance by one of the best bands in the industry today.
