Details of Jgb and the Ticket Luck value
JGB is a rock band founded and led by the longtime member of the Jerry Garcia Band, Melvin Seals. The main aim behind the establishment of this band was to carry on the legacy of the Jerry Garcia Band. The Jerry Garcia Band was a rock band that was formed in 1975 and remained active till 1995, after which the band dismembered due to the death of its founder. This band released a total of eight studio albums and seven solo releases over its entire musical career. It was known to go on tours sporadically throughout the twenty years the band stayed active for. Even though the band switched numerous members, it consisted of three permanent ones, namely Jerry Garcia, Melvin Seals and John Kahn.
Born in 1953, Melvin Seals developed his interest in jazz music from the naïve age of eight. He started learning piano and moved towards gospel music where he started performing at the local church, during his teenage years. As he grew up, he joined various bands in the area of San Francisco where he played the piano and the electric organ. Before joining the Jerry Garcia band, Melvin Seals performed with various artists such as Elvin Bishop, Charlie Daniels and Chuck Berry. Seals joined the Jerry Garcia Band in the year 1980 and became a permanent member, playing the electric organ for the band. After Jerry’s death, Seals founded JGB; abbreviation for Jerry Garcia Band.
It was just after a year of Jerry Garcia’s death, that Melvin Seals decided to take charge and pushed the remaining band members of the band to perform the same music, just without the founder of the band. However, they received another blow when John Kahn also died after a short period. Though truly devastated, the artists still kept on performing to keep the music and sound of the band alive. If you also want to relive the compositions of the Jerry Garcia Band, you should consider making your way to the upcoming JGB show. The name of the tour was Grateful Garcia Gathering, where band members namely Melvin Seals, John Kadlecik and Stu Allen performed. The band was then joined by a fourth member in 2007, when the drummer of the original group named David Kemper became a part of JGB. Other artists who are known to have performed with JGB include various close friends of Jerry Garcia such as Mookie Siegel, Donna Jean, Mike Lawson, Barry Sless, G. E. Smith and Mark Karan.
JGB has released two studio albums; the first in 1998 named “Welcome to Our World” and the second in 2006, named “Keepers of the Flame”. JGB’s primary focus is on performing the songs of the Jerry Garcia band, which they have done by touring massively over the years. In 2005, they played live at Greek Theatre and the Goodfoot Lounge. Then in 2006, JGB performed at the Great American Musical Hall, The Last Day Saloon, The Brookdale Lodge, the Hawthrone Theatre, the River Theatre and the Rhythm Room. In the following year, this band was seen performing at the Salty Jam Music Festival, 19 Broadway, Benbow Lake Arts Festival, Nelson Ledges Quarry Park and Sellersville Theatre.
