The main vocalist of the band, Jason Bolan was the founding member as well. Born in the small city of Harrah that was close to being a village at that time, Bolan worked hard to make something of his life. He attended the Oklahoma State University to receive his graduate degree and this was the time when he decided to create his own band. By the year 1999, Jason Bolan the Stragglers was formed and the debut album was released in the same year. The album was named “Pearl Snaps” and was released through the record label company, Smith Music Group. The band started to gain fame and prosperity mostly in the Oklahoma state area, with the release of three more albums by the year 2006. These albums were called “Truckshop Diaries” released in the year 2001 through the Tenkiller Records label, “Somewhere in the Middle” released in the year 2004 through Smith Music Group and then “The Bourbon Legend” releasing in the year 2006 via Sustain Records; owned by a popular Texas singer Bruce Robinson.
The band then went on to co-create an album with the band Hazzard that was released under Hazzard’s name. Before the release of the 2006 album, Jason Bolan suffered from a personal problem as he had to be institutionalized due to alcoholic abuse which forced him to take a break for some while. Being institutionalized in the Sierra Tuscon Rehabilitation Center, Bolan spent a month to deal with his alcoholism issues. Then before the release of his fourth album in the year 2008, Jason Bolan suffered an injury that would have caused him to retire from singing altogether. Due to overstraining his vocals chords, Bolan ruptured one and had to go through therapy and take time off if he wanted to keep his voice. Eventually Jason got back and released his fourth album called “Comal County Blue” in the year 2008 through the Thirty Tiger record company. The band’s final and most recent album was released in the year 2011 and was called “Rancho Alto” which went to obtain the third position on the Billboard Heat seekers charts in the US. Apart from these six studio albums, Jason Bolan the Stragglers have also released two live albums in the year 2002 and 2010.
